RESOLUTION RF.0.UIRING 0kqVERS OF CERTAIN DESCRIBED
LANDS TO ABATE NUISANCES THEREON OR BE ASSESSED
COST THEREOF FOR ABATEHENT BY CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission did, in regular session held
on the 27th day of August, 1956, enact a resolution declaring the
existence of a nuisance upon certain lots or parcels of land For
violation of Chapter 15 of the City Code and Ordinance 6-147; and
WHERFAS, pursuant to said resolution, the City Clerk of the
City of Delray Beach, Florida, did Furnish each of the owners of
the lands therein declared nuisances with notice that the City
Commission would sit on September 24th, 1956, at 4:00 o'clock P.H.
at the City Hall in Delray Beach, Florida, For the purpose of al-
lowing said ovners to show cause, if any, why said nuisance de-
scribed in said resolution should not be abated; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said resolution, the City Commission
of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, did on September 24th, 1956,
at 4:00 o'clock P.H. at the City Hall in Delray Beach, Florida,
hold the hearing provided For in such notice, and did consider
such reasons and Facts as were presented by the ovners of said
lands, and such other material and pertinent evidence as was ad-
duced before it,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the existence of a
nuisance for the reasons hereinafter set Forth, be and the same
is hereby adjudged upon the Following lands in the City of Delray
Beach, Florida, to wit:

* Nature of Nuisance Specified: "2" means there is a collection
of water or trash in which mosquitoes are likely to breed. "3"
means there are trees, debris, or vegetation, which, by reason of
height, proximity to neighboring structures or physical conditions
are hurricane hazards; '4" means there are weeds exceeding 18
inches in height, and which either exhale obnoxious odors or
constitute a likely source of disease or physical distress to
human beings.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the
City of Delray Beach, Florida, furnish each of the owners o£ the
lands hereinabove listed and described with a copy of this reso-
lution at their last available address within ten (10) days from
.the date this Resolution is adopted.
AND, BE I? FURTHER RESOLVED that each of said owners be
and they are hereby notified that they are required to abate the
nuisance hereinabove adjudged and specified within thirty (30)
!days from the receipt of a copy of this resolution; otherwise, in
default thereof, the City of Delray Beach, Florida, will enter upon
said lands and abate the said nuisance hereinabove specified and

WHEREAS, John Barrow, a lifelong resident of Delray B~ach,
has complete~ ~ distinguisher collegiate athletic career at the
University of Florida wherein he has earned the respect and acclaim
of his team ~ates, his opponents,, and of all the football fans in
the ~tate of Florida and throughout the nation; and
WHEREAS, by hi~ proven athletic prowess, leaffership and
sportsmanship, John Barrow has attained many high honors and awards;,
includin[:
Elected C~aptain of the University Varsity
Football Team for 19~56;
S~lected ~Llneman of the Year" in the SOuth-.
eastern Conference for 1956;
Selected first team "All American" guard by
Look Magazine for 1956, and unanimous choice,
on all '~All America" football squads;
Commended an outstanding player in North-South
All Star Shrine Game, 1956, and in Senior Bowl
Game, 1957; and
WH~IEA~ John Barrow has, by his deeds and achievements,
brought honor and renown upon himself~ his family, his school, and
the City of Delray Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the City Commission does hereby recognize and congra-
tulate John Barrow as the first "Ail American" in the City of Delray
Beach, and further does hereby commend him for his outstanding record
and the worthy example he has provided by his conduct for the citizens
and youth of this city.
2. That a copy of this Resolution be filed in the permanent
records of the City of Delray B~ach, and the original hereof be
given John Barrow.
