Res 844-52 RESOLUTION NO.~ WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, has from time to time given extensive thought to the major attractions of this City and of Palm Beach County, and WHEREAS~ in its considered Judgement the greatest attraction and major asset of Palm Beach County is its beaches, and WHEREAS, Palm Beach County is one of the fastest growing areas in the entire State of Florida, and WHEREAS, it has been observed in other areas of Florida that as the area developed and the population increased, privately owned beaches which the owners had previously allowed the public to use were enclosed and the public deprived of the use of same; and WHEREAS, there are still remaining in this County several sizeable strips of beach and coast line not yet developed for private use~ and WHEREAS, with an eye to the future and the general welfare of this entire area, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach that immediate action should be taken by the County Commission of Palm Beach County~ Florida~ to secure additional public beaches, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach does hereby recommend to the County Commission of Palm Beach County, Florida, that it take such action as may be necessary immediately to secure such strips of beach and lake frontage as in its considered Judgement will meet the needs of the County and of its several centers of population. 2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the County Commission, Palm Beach County, Florida. 3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the respective governing bodies of the Cities of Palm Beach County. ~. That copies of this Resolution be forwarded all civic organizations of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, for their endorsement and appropriate action.
