Res 796-51 RESOLUTION NOo 796 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, PROTESTING THE CHANGE OF NAME OF THAT CERTAIN INCORPORATED MUNICIPALITY NOW KNOW/~ AS HIGHLAND BEACH, TO DELRAY-BY-THE-SEA. EHEREAS, for approximately forty years the name Delray, and the name Delray Beach, have been used by this Municipality and the preceding Mur~ipalities, to which this is a successor, and ~F, REAS, the City of Delray Beach has attained an enviable reputation among the "Florida Municipalities" through its own advertising, efforts, and goverrnuent, and W~EREAS, a Municipality presently known as Highland Beach has petitioned the Legislature of the State of Florida to change its corporate name to Delray-By-The-Sea, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI'I~f_ OF DELRAY BEACH, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That this City does hereby vigorously protest such proposed change of name/by Highland Beach. 2. That this City does hereby protest any such change of name of said Highland Beach, which would include the name Delray or Delray Beach. ~. That copies of this Resolution be sent immediately to Honorable Russell O. Morrow, State Senator, Honorable B. Elliott, and Honorsble John E. Bollinger, State Representatives. 4. That copies oF this Resolution be distributed to each Civic Organization in the City of Delray Beach, Florida.
