Res 536 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DI~AY BEACH, FLORIDA, CONCERNING THE PROPOSED RIGHT OF WAY FOR U. S. HIGBBYAY NO. i THROUGH DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, is advised that the State Road Department of the State of Florida is comtemplating the widening of East 5th Avenue and East 6th Avenue ' through Delray Beach, Florida, to a width of 80 feet for each avenue for the purpose of providing a two lane right-of-way for U. S. Highway No. I and, WNE. WW~AS, such proposed widening of these streets would necessitate the moving of many large buildings and the condemning of valuable land, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, believes that the present right-of-way of East 5th Avenue and East 6th Avenue is sufficient to handle the traffic on U. S. Highway No. 1. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City ~$unoil of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, as follows: SECTION l: That the State Road Department is hereby requested to so modify its plans that additional right-of-way through Delray Beach, Florida, will not be needed but that the present street right-of-way on East 5th Avenue and East.6th Avenue will be used for U. S. Highway No. i and that the State Road Department gives all financial assistance possible to Palm Beach County in acquiring any new right-of-way that may be needed to make use of the existing thoroughfares through Delzay Beach, Florida.
