Res 218 RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION CALLING AN ELECTION TO DECIDE ~fHETHER A PUBLIC LIBRARY ~ND READING RO0~ SHALL BE ESTABLISHED IN THE CITY OF DELR~,Y BEACH, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, a large nt~nber of citizens of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, have requested and petitioned the City officials to call an election to determine whether a public library and reading room shall be established in the City, and w~'let~er t~e City officials s~-lall maintain said library, mnd levy a tax of not more than two mills annually for said purpose. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELR~Y BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That an election is hereby called for ffune the ~$~ day of ~, 1938, to decide whether a public library and reading room shall be established in the City of Delray Beach, Florida, as is authorized and provided by the General Laws of the State of Florida. SECTION 2. That at said election two questions shall be decided by the qualified registered voters of the City, to- wit: (a) Shall the City Council pass a~ordinance to establish and maintain a p~blic library, and reading room? (b) Shall the City Council levy an annual tax not to exceed two mills for the .purpose of maintaining said public library and reading room? SECTION ~. All registered, qualified voters of the City shall vote at said election, and said election shall be conducted in the same manner as other municipal elections are held, pursuant to the Charter Act of the City and the General Election Laws of the State of Florida. That ;Jthur Barton is hereby named Clerk of said election and Emma Mitchell , W.O.Winn and Leslie Moore inspectors to hold said election. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk and City Attorney are hereby instructed to have the necessary ballot prepared, to said ballot c/~ntain the above two questions to be voted on b-j? the voters, and after each question shall be the following words: "For establistunent of library and reading room. ,,against establishment of library and reading room. ,'For tt~e levy of a two mill tax. "Against the levy of a two mill tax. " The above and foregoing resolution was duly adopt~ by the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, on the ~ day of ~~ A. D. 1938.
