07-01-59SpMtg JULY iST, 1959. A Special Meeting of .the City Council, was called to order by Mayor George Talbot Jr., w~th City Manager W. E. Lawson Jr., City At- torney Harry T. Newett and Commissioners J. LeRoy Croft, Charles H. Harbison, Fred B. McNeece and George V. Warren being present. City Manager Lawson submitted the "SIB~MARY" of Votes cast at the SPECIAL (REFERENDUM) ELECTION, held on Tuesday, June SOth, 1959, and being as follows: SUMMARY OF ALL VOTES CAST ~ "SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE SOTH, 1959. SHALL T~tERE BE GRANTED TO THE FLORIDA PUBLIC UTILITIES COMPANY A THIRTY YEAR FRANCHISE PERMITTING SAID COMPANY TO USE THE CITY STREETS FOR THE INSTALLATION AND MAIN- TENANCE OF A NATURAL GAS SYSTEM AS PROVIDED BY ORDINANCE G-S16 PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE 25TH DAY OF MAY, 1959. WORTHING- - - City Clerk On motion of Commlssi.oner Harbison and seconded by Commissioner McNeece, the Council unanimously approved and accepted the Canvass of Election Returns as submitted by the City Manager. The followin~ request from 'CARVER HIGH SCHOOL', submitted by Mr. Anthony H. Holli~ay (Principal), was presente.d, by City Manager Lawson: "Last year the City of Delray Beach was kind .enough to make a one hundred dollar contribution to the summer recreational program which we conducted. I am again as$i.ng if it will be possible to contribute the same amount to the five (5) units which we are carrying on this Hoping.to hear .from you as soon as p.ossible and assuring you that your k~ndness will be greatly appreciated by all parties con- cerned, I am" /S/ ANTHONY H. HOLLIDAY Prin. Commissioner.Harbison moved that Carver High School be granted a contribution of $1..07.00 for aid in conducting the .summer recreational program of Carver Hxgh School for 1959, and authorized transfer of necessary funds for .sai.d purpose from Unappropriated Surplus; Motion was seconded by Commissioner Warren and unanimously approved. The City Manage_r then read the following 'Report' from the Plan- ning Board, dated June 29th: "At its regular meeting on June 26th, 1959, the Planning Board considered the deviation.request .of Mm, Arthur R. Sprott for side set-bakcs to permit the xnstallat~on of a swimming pool.
