12-17-57SpMtg DECEMBER 17TH, 1957. A Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the City Hall at 4:GO P. M., with Mayor George V. Warren in the Chair, City Manager W. E. Lawson Jr., City Attorney Harry To Newett and the following Council Members being present - Col. Dugal G. Campbell, Mr. R. J. Holland and Mrs. Catherine E. Strong. Mayor Warren called the Special Meeting to order. Commissioner Strong moved that a letter of appreciation for valued services rendered be forwarded to the Members of the Golf Commission and that said Commission be considered discharged as of November llth, 1957. Motion seconded by Commissioner Campbell and unanimously passed. Commissioner Campbell moved that all monies now being held in the Golf Course account or accounts, covering Balance On Hand as of Noven~ bet llth, 1957, be transferred to the General Fund and further that any Outstanding Bills Payable of the Golf Course operation to November llth, 1987 be referred to the City Manager for payment, all of which shall be subject to final accounting of Membership Dues. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Strong and unanimously agreed. City Manager Lawson then read Resolution No. 1084: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, REMOVING THE PRESE~MEMBERS OF THE GOLF COM~{ISSION. WHEREAS, heretofore, the golf course belonging to the City of Delray Beach, Florida, was offered for sale at public auction, and on November 8th, 1957, the bid of The Grimes Foundation made at public sale was accepted by the City Council in Special Session; and ~EREAS, commencing November llth, 1957, The Grimes Foundation did commence to operate and manage said property, and the Golf Com- mission has ceased to function, and no reason appears why it should be continued in office; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF DELR~Y BEACH, FLORIDA: 1. That pursuant to Section 179 of the City Charter, and in exercise of the powers therein vested in the City Council, all the present members of the Golf Commission (and who were in office November 10th, 1987) are hereby removed, and the said commission is discharged of all further duties, except to account and transfer any assets remaining in their hands to the City of Delray Beach.
