The Annual meeting of the ~ity Commission was held in the
Commission Chambers, City Hall, at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Strong
in the Chair, City Manager W.E. Lawson Jr., City Attorney Nell
MacMillan, and the following Commissioners~present: Glenn
Sundy, R. ~. Holland, and Mrs. Alma K. Woehle, a quorum being
present.
The m~utes of the December 28 meeting were approved upon
motion of Commissioner Woehle and seconded by Commissioner Holland,
unanimous lyc arried.
Mayor Strong expressed her sincere appreciation and thanks
to the Com~issioners, Press and the publi6 for their past support
and for the privilege of having served as their Chairman. The
Council then adjourned sine die.
The recently elected members to the Commission, W. J. Snow
and ~mory J. Barrow were given the oath of office by the Cit~
Clerk and took their places at the Commission table and the Uity
Clerk presided.
Commissioner Strong moved that ~. J. Snow be nominated Mayor.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Sundy and carried unani-
mo~ sl y.
Mayor Snow then took the Chair.
Commissioner Sundy nominated Emory J. Barrow as Vice-Mayor,
and moved that he be elected by acclamation. The motion was
seconded by Commissioner Strong and upon call of roll carried
unan tmou sly.
Commissioner strong moved that ~. E. Lawson, Jr. be
appointed City Manager. Commissioaer Barrow seconded the motion
and it carried unanimously.
A motion was then made by Commissioner Sundy, seconded by
Commissioner Strong that for the current year Nell MacMillan be
re-appointed City Attorney. Upon call of roll the motion carried
unanimo us i y.
~ Commissioner Sundy moved that John H. Adams be reappointed
for the current year as Municipal Judge. Motion was seconded by
Commissiouer Barrow and carried unanimously.
Mr. Lawson then read the following Resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 942
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF DEL KAY BhACH, FLORI ~.
~HEREAS, Alma K. Woehle, has unselfishly given of her time
and ability as a City Commissioner for t~e past two years, and
WHEREAS, Alma K. Woehle has also had the distinction of
being the first lady Commissioner on the City Commission.
NOW, THEREMORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of
the City of ~elray Oeach:
1. That Alma K. Woehle be and she is hereby commended for
her great contribution to the general welfare of the City of
~elray Beach, and for the distinction of being the first l~dy to
serve on the City Commission of the City of Delray Beach, ~lorida.
Unanimously adopted this 3rd day of January 1955.

Mr. Lawson then read the following resolution:

WHEREAS, Robert J. Holland has unselfishly given of his
time and ability as a City Commissioner for the past five years,
and
WHEREAS, he has further s~erved ably and efficiently as
Mayor of the City,
NOW, T~RREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of
the City of Delray Beach:
1. That Robert J. Holland be and he is hereby commended
for his great contribution to the general welfare of the City
of ~elray Beach, Florida, as City Commissioner and as Mayor..
Unanimously adopted this 3rd day of January 1955.

Commissioner Sundy moved that the resolution be passed
and adopted. Seconded by Commissioner Strong and unanimously
carri ed.
Mayor Snow advised that the City Commission would name the
various Committees and their membership, at the next meeting, to
be held on January 11, 1955 at 2:30 p.M. in the City Hall.
Retiring Commissioner R. J. Holland addressed the Commis-
sion stating that, in his opinion, there were not two better
qualified in Delray Beach than the newly elected Commissioners.
The meeting then adjourned.
