Harden, Cit Mana er GA-44.0 PURPOSE: The purpose of this directive is to establish a policy that provides liability protection and boat physical damage insurance coverage up to $50,000.00 for Volunteer Marine Patrol Members during the time that they are patrolling our waterways in their personally owned vessel. GA-44.1 POLICY: The City of Delray Beach will protect and insure an approved member of the Volunteer Marine Patrol, hislher vessel and approved members (hereinafter "volunteer"} onboard their personally owned vessels from the time they commence volunteer patrol by signing in on the Marine Patrol Duty Log at the fuel dock of the Delray Harbor Club until the time "volunteer" signs out on the Marine Patrol Duty L.og at the fuel dock of the Delray Harbor Club. GA-44.2 REQUIREMENTS: This policy will only apply to marine patrol volunteers who meet the requirements set forth below: 1. The "volunteer" must be a current member of the volunteer Marine Patrol Unit of the City of Delray Beach Police Department. 2. The "volunteer" must produce a valid vessel registration. 3. The "volunteer" must produce proof of valid personal vessel liability and physical damage insurance. 4. The "volunteer" must produce a valid safe boating card. 5. The "volunteer's" vessel must meet the U.S. Coast Guard requirements. 6. The "volunteer" must produce a written waiver signed by guardianlparent volunteer if a crew member is under 18. The "volunteer" must have completed the training conducted through the Police Department with the assistance from the Florida Marine Patrol, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. 8. The "volunteer" will not possess nor carry on board the boat any firearms at any time, while on duty. 9. The "volunteer" must wear an approved flotation vest at all times during all operations. 1a. The "volunteer" must wear an approved uniform in accordance with the guidelines of the Police Department. 11. The "volunteer" patrol must consist of a boat captain and minimum of one crew member. 12. The "volunteer" will not permit anyone on vessel who is not an approved volunteer without prior permission from the Department. 13. The "valunteer" will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safe operation of the vessel and safety of those persons aboard. 14. The "volunteer" will not pursue any violators. 15. The volunteer will not make contact with any violators without a sworn police officer on board. 16. The "volunteer" will obey posted or regulated speed limits at all times.
