A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray
Beach was held in the Council Chambers at 7:30 P.M. ~ tn Mayor
Catherine E. Strong in the Chair, City Manager W. E. Lawson, City
Attorney Neil MacMillan, and the following Council members present:
Glenn B. Sundy and Mfs. Alma K. Woehle.
Also present were members of the Planning Board and Chamber
of Commerce.
The meeting was held for the purpose of off-street parking
discus sion.
Mr. Robert Blake, Chairman of the Planning Board, referred
to their recommendations suggested in April, costs of which were
beyond the ability of the City.
There were many helpful suggestions from the floor, mainly
Mr. George Warren, offering both constructive ideas as well aa
personal ~ervices for possible aid in disposition of certificates
of indebtedness. Suggestions were also made by W~lliam Ransdell,
Seward Webb, Stewart B. Iglehart, and the City Attorney.
Mr. Ralph Priesmeyer stated that a committee of the Chamber of
Commerce is studying this project.
It was the decision of the Council to postpone consideration
of purchasLng preperty for parking until after the hearing of the
proposed 1954-55 budget.
The City Clerk was requested to contact the FEC Railroad
Company as to possible use of available railroad right-of-way
property as further aid in solving the parking situation.
The meeting then adjourned.
