11-19-53SpMtg November 19th, 1953 Upon call of the Mayor a soecial meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach was held in the City Manager's Office at 10:45 A.M. with Mayor R. J. Holland in the Chair, and City Attorney Nell E. MacMillan, City Manager Robert Lovelace, and the following Councilmen present: John N. Kabler, R. J. Saunders, and Mrs. Alma K. Woehle, a quorom being present. ~he meeting was called to consider the purchase of ocean frontage for additional Bathing Beach facilities. City Manager Lovelace advised the Council that he had contacted Mr. Paul Clark, owner of Lot 14, Block A, Palm B~ach Shore Acres, that this land is south of the incorporated Town of Ocean Ridge, in Palm Beach County, and that it Can be purchased for $30,000.00, with a cash payment of $21,000.00 and the balance of $9,000.00 payable November 15th, 1954 with 6% interest. Mr. Clark will give the City of Delray Beach an option to purchase the land for sixty days for 10% of the purchase price, or $3,000.00. ~he Council discussed the ~matter at length, they felt that the land should be purchased by the city, ~nd that a sixty day option should be taken to allow time to work out the details. Councilman Kabler moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to enter into a contract to purchase Lot 14, Block A, Palm Beach Shore Acres, known as the Paul Clark property, extending from the ocean to State Road &lA, for use as a publicPark for the City of Delray Beach, on the following terms: Purchase Price - $30,000.00 Option for 60 days at 10% of purchase price or $3,000.00, providing that at the time the contract is executed the balance of $18,000.00 will be paid. The $3,000.00 to constitute part paymen~t, the balance to be represented by a note or mortgage, payable on or before ll/15/54, with interest at 6%. Said contract to be contingent on the oroperty being outside the limits of any Municipality. Expenses of title insurance, stamps on deed, mortgage notes, recording costs, etc., to be borne by the City. The City of Delray Beach to be furnished a free and unencumbered fee sLmple title to the property. (Title insurance to be ~Arnished by the Atlantic Title Cc, or the Security Abstract and Insurance Co. of West Palm Beach.) The motion was seconded by Mrs. Woehle, and upon call of roll carried unanimously. The meeting then adjourned. City Clerk APPROVED: Mayor
