December 5th, 1950.
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Delray Beach was held in the City Manager's office at 7:30
p.m. to canvas the returns of the General Election held this
day~ with May~or John N.Kabler in the Chair~ and City Attorney
John Moore~City Manager Charles E. Black~ and the following
Councilmen present: R.J.Holland~ W.A.Jacobs~ Walter A. ~oth~
and J.L.Saunders~ a quor~uu being present.
Proof of publication of Proclamation of the Hayor, call-
ing a General Election to be held on December 5th to elect
two City Councilmen, was read and spread upon the minutes as
follows:
PROCLAI~iTION BY THE I~iYOR
i.'g{EREAS~ the Charter of the City of Delray
Beach~ Florida~ provides for a General Ele-
ction for the purpose of electing City Cou-
ncilmen in even numbered years~ and
~RE.iS~ in pursuance of said Charter pro-
visions it is provided that such General
Election shall be held on Tuesdays December
5~ 1950~
NOW~ THEREFORE~ I~ JOHN N. KABLER~ Mayor of
the City of Delray Beach~ Florida~ do hereby
call for such General Election for the pur-
pose of electing two City Councilmen~ to be
held on Tuesday December ~ 19~0 A.D. at the
Community Civic Center Building~ 15 Southeast
~th Avenue~ ~Delray Beach~ Florida~ between
the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Ail qualified electors of the City of Delray
Beach~ Plorida~ shall be qualified to vote
in such election.

Election, having been filed with the Mayor and City Clerk as
provided in the City Charter, was read, as follows:

Before me, an officer capable of administering oaths,
personally appeared King S. Cone, Clerk, and ~rs. 1.famie
Deaderick, ~irs. Ellis I. Lamb, Mrs. Ellen Larey, H.L.Hively,
and Caroline Van Ballegooien~ Inspectors~ who after being duly
sworn depose and say each for himself, that they will perform
the duties of Clerk and Inspectors at the General Election to
be held in and for the City of Delray Beach, Palm Beach County,
Florida, on the [th day of December, 19[0, and that said duties
will be performed according to law, and that he will endeavor to
prevent fraud, deceit or abuse in conducting the same.

A motion was then made by Councilman Jacobs, seconded by
Councilman Holland, that the affidavit of the Election Board be
approved and certified, and the two candidates who received the
highest number of votes be declared elected as City Councilmen
for a term of two years, namely Jack L. Saunders and ~.falter A.Roth.
Upon call of roll the motion carried unanimously.
