A ~pecial Meeting of the City Council of the Ci~y of Delray Beach
was held in the Council Chambers with Mayor ~. H. Brannon in the
Chair, City Manager Chas. E. Black, City A%to~ney John Moore, and
the following Councilmen present: Nell MacMillan and C.J. ~tte,
a quorum being present.
Approval was made of a bill for ~1,927.21 for one pick-up
t~uck to replace the Fire Chief's car. An estimate was made of
$700 - ~800 on painting the old car ami selling by bids or public
auction.
Motion was made by Councilman MacMillan, seconded by Councilman
DeWitt and unanimously carried, to approve payment of the bill.
The City Manager was instructed to get prices frcm MacLaren
Sign Co. and Delray Sign Co. for a banner for the American Legion
Convention to stop sc~e ~egionairres going through town.
A motion was made by Councilman White, seconded by Counilman
MacMilland and unanimously carried that after the American Legion
Convention the City Manager would have the sign changed according
to the requirements oS the Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Barton was requested to submit plans of a grocery store
she desires to build on Lot 15, Block 107, for the approval of
the Council.
A motion was made by Councilman White, seconded by Councilman
MacMillan~~ and unanimously carried, that the cigarette ta~ stamp
ordinance be amended to conform with the ~est Palm Beach ordinance.
The City Manager was instructed to prepare an amended ordinance
as an emergency measure and to secure stamps.
A motion was made by Councilman White, seconded by Councilman
MacMillan and unanimously carried, authorizing the City Manager
to draw an amer~ment to provide a standard floor elevation for
commercial buildings.
Upon motlc~ of Councilm~eu MacMXllan, seconded by Councilman
White, the solicitor's ordinance was amended to make it more
practical, eliminating bad features, etc.
The City Attorney was asked to check with the County regarding
one-half year license for businesses opening after April 1st.
Bills were approved subject to approval of the Finance Committee.
The meeting then adjourned.
