11-123-48SpMtg NOVEMBER 12, 1948 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of ~elray Beach was held in the Council Chambers with Mayor L.H. Brannon ~n the Chair, City Manager Chas. E. Black, and the following Councilmen present: M. M. DeWitt, John Kabler, and Nell MacMillan, a quorum being present. The Council discussed the sidewalk for East Atlantic Avenue and various ways of construction. The City Manager was instructed to obtain an estimate of topping to be hauled and rolled on top of rock. The City Clerk was instructed to contact the Realty Board for an appraisal of Block 51, Lot 19, which had been o~ered to the City by the owner, Mr. Campbell, for $750.00. A request for a used car lot to be placed in a Limited Busire ss zone on Atlantic Avenue was denied. Upon motion of Councilman DeWitt, secc~ded by Councilman aabler and unanimously carried, a contract for the construction of a side- walk was awarded to W. J. Snow. A bill for Grover Baker was approved for payment upon motion of Councilman De,Itt, seconded by Councilman MacMillan and unani- mously carrie d. The Council discussed installing a canvas pavilion at the beach and the estimated cost of same. Councilman DeWitt was opposed to the pavilion being installed. Motion was made by Councilman DeWitt, seconded by Cou~ ilman MacMillan to advertise through the Chamber of Comuerce to obtain $11,000 or $12,000 for the fund. Discussion was held regarding a full page advertisement in the Delray Beach News and it was decided that the Chamber of Commerce · would have the backing of the Council in the advertising.
