A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach was held in
the Council Chambers at 7.'30 P.M. to canvas the votes cast in the ~eneral Election,
with Fmyor M. M. DeWitt in the Chair, and City Manager H. P. Edmond, City Attorney
J. W. Nowlin, and the following Cotmci/men present: B. C. Butler, F. B. McNeece, J.
B. Smith and C. J. White, a quorum being present.
The Certification of votes cast at the General Election, signed by the Clerk
and Inspectors of the Election Board, showing a total of 917 votes cast, was read
in full, as follows:

The above certification of the Election Board was approved and accepted by the
Council, and L. H. Brannon, John N. Eabler, Jr. and Neil E. MacMillan were declared
to be elected for a two year term as City Councilmen.
The ballot b~x was then placed unopened in the vault for a peri~ of three days,
as required by the City Charter.
The Clerk presented two letters of reference in connection with the app]_tea-
tion of James A. Blake and Thomas A. Haley, for license to sell beer at their new
restaurant located at 620 So. Federal Highway, to be known as The Coffee Cup. As
the application and requirements were all inorder, a motion was made by Councilman
Butler, seconded by Councilman Smith, that license be granted as requested and
upon call of roll the motion carried unanimously.
With reference to the construction of a sidewalk on the east side of S. W. 5th
Avenue in the colored section, Mr. Edmond advised that property owners who had been
contacted were willing to give 5' east of the 40' right-of-way for a sidewalk pro-
viding the present building set-back would remain the same.
City Attorney Nowlin stated that this prov~gion could be made a part of future
deeds to ureserve this set-bask line.
