SUBJECT: AGENDA ITEM 8.U. - REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING OF AUGUST 7, 2012
RESOLUTION NO. 36-12/GREEN IMPLEMENTATION ADVANCEMENT BOARD
ITEM BEFORE COMMISSION
The City Commission is requested to consider reducing the total number of members that would serve
on the City's Green Implementation Advancement Board (GIAB) from seven (7) members to five (5)
members.
BACKGROUND
In an effort to ensure that there are a sufficient number of volunteers to serve on the Green
Implementation Advancement Board (GIAB), the total number of members is requested to be reduced
fiom (7) members with two alternates to five (5) members with two alternates. All appointments
would continue to be for two (2) year staggered terms to ensure that experience is retained.
All members would continue to be required to possess expertise and/or an interest in environmental
conservation and sustainability and shall be residents of or own property in the City, own a business
within the City, or be an officer, director or manager of a business located within the City.
Changing the total number of GIAB members is expected to ensure that there are enough volunteers that
are committed to serve as well as to enable the Board to meet with a smaller quorum requirement should
there be a conflict and members are unable to attend a meeting.
