Transitioned from having a step trainer to being on my own, and feeling confident to make decision and work as a team with other employees. EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT: What specific training or work assignments have you provided for other employees to develop their knowledge and skills? Being that 1 and not only a firefighter paramedic but a nurse I am constantly asked question as to why certain treatments or procedure are done upon arrival to the hospital or what the continued treatments are to patient. I service as a tool to help bridge the gap to some of their questions. I have also discuss with several employees the treatment/assessment findings for LVAD patients, which is due to DMC newly acquired cardiac intervention physicians that are now placing these devices here in our city. SUPPORT NEEDED: What type of guidance or other support do you need from your supervisor to improve your performance during the next rating period? Being that I am a new firefighter paramedic there can be new experiences and learning opportunities each shift. With each call new and unfamiliar challenges can arise. The shift Captains and crews have been very helpful in working with me through these situations and I ask for them to, just continue. SELF -DEVELOPMENT: What methods/programs/courses, etc. are you using to keep abreast of new developments in your field? With the implementation of target solutions and assigned learning modules I have been learning/refreshing materials. I have completed DRI which exposed me to a new aspect of fire rescue and increased my knowledge of rescue situations and the tools to operate special equipment we have on our apparatus. I plan attend as many future courses/certifications to become a more rounded rescuer. I am always reading new material and articles to try and learn about new methods/procedure and the new challenges that EMSpersonnel are facing each day.
