RESOLUTION NO. 72-17
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING
KENNETH THOMPSON FOR THIRTY YEARS OF DEDICATED
SERVICE TO THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH.
WHEREAS, Kenneth Thompson began his career with the City of Delray Beach on
August 5, 1987 and on August 5, 2017 reached a milestone in his career,having achieved
thirty years of dedicated service to the residents of Delray Beach, Highland Beach and
Gulfstream; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter/Paramedic Thompson was hired as a Lifeguard I, promoted to
Ocean Lifeguard, Ocean Lifeguard Lieutenant, Firefighter and then to Firefighter/
Paramedic in January 2003 where he continues to serve served willingly and faithfully
with distinction and honor; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his outstanding service as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Paramedic
Thompson initiated the Delray Beach Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
program in 1998 and has served as Lead Instructor since that date. As a direct result of
his dedication, the CERT program has trained approximately three hundred and fifty
volunteers in 28 Delray Beach communities to provide care and support for their
neighborhoods during times of emergency; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter/Paramedic Thompson is a valuable, integral part of the Fire-
Rescue Department and is known for his willingness to accept responsibility, his can-do
spirit and his ability to engage with our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Fire-Rescue Department and the entire City of Delray Beach are

fortunate to have Firefighter/Paramedic Thompson on our team.

NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Delray Beach hereby extend our
heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Paramedic Thompson for thirty years of dedicated
and faithful public service and wishes him the best of health and happiness in his
continued service.
Section 2. That the City Commission call upon local fire departments, professional
firefighters and paramedics in attendance, and all else present to acknowledge and
applaud his outstanding and exemplary service to the City of Delray Beach, its residents
and surrounding communities.
