NO.55-06 MEMORANDUM FROM: MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSIONERS CITI MANAGER ~ AGENDA ITEM # 10 .,n REGULAR MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 5.2006 RESOLUTION NO. 55-06 (TENTATIVE MILLAGE LEVY FOR FY 2007) TO: SUBJECT: DATE: SEPTEMBER 1,2006 Resolution No. 55-06 tentatively levies a tax on all properties in the City of Delray Beach for FY 2007. The proposed millage rate for FY 2007 is 7.30 mills. Resolution No. 55-06 will set the tentative millage, which can still be reduced at the second budget hearing on September 19th when our final millage will be adopted. The rate of 7.30 mills is less than FY 2006. Operating millage is 6.86, while debt service millage remains at 0.44. The rolled back rate calculated under the TRIM law for operating purposes is 5.9464 mills. The tentative millage rate at 7.30 mills would be 16.52% above the rolled back rate. The assessed valuation on all taxable property within the City for operating purposes is $8,410,413,538. The assessed valuation for debt service is $8,411,463,681. The reason for the differential is the exemptions that were granted to historic properties in the City. They apply to operating millage only. Pursuant to the City Charter and TRIM requirements, a public hearing must be held prior to the adoption of the resolution. Final adoption of the FY 2007 budget is scheduled for September 19, 2006. Recommend determination of the millage rate to insert in Section 1, and approve Resolution No. 55- 06.
