11-18-46 Special \0' NOVEMBER 18th, 1946 Upon call of the Mayor a Special Council Meeting was held at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers to prepare the ballot box for the Primary Election to be held on November 19th, and to take care of any other necessary business, with Mayor M.M. DeWitt in the Chair, City Manager H.P. Edmond, City Attorney J.W. Nowlin, and the following Councilmen present: F.E. McNeece, J.E. Smith and C.J. White, a quorum being present. As Mr. George Mayberry was unable to serve on the Election Board, Mr. Wm. R. George was appointed by the Council to serve in his place. The following affidavit was then presented and ordered filed: STATE OF FLORIDA COUNTY OF PALM BEACH CITY OF DEIRAY BEACH CLERK AND INSPECTORS OF PRIMARY ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 19th, 1946. . Before me, an officer capable of administering oaths, personally appeared A.J. Caraker, L.F. Ranson and Wm. R. George, Inspectors, and Ben F. Sundy, Clerk, who after being duly sworn, depose and say, each for himself, that they will perform the duties of Clerk and Inspectors at the Primary Election to be held in and for the City of Delray Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, on the 19th day of November, 1946, and that said duties will be performed according to law, and that they will endeavor to prevent fraud, deceit or abuse in conducting the same. Smith City Clerk (SEAL) After the ballot box had been prepared by placing therein .two official. voter's lists, all absentee ballots 'cast by voters who would be absent from the City on Election Day, 1900 official ballots, one copy of the City Charter and one dozen. lead pencils, the box was locked and sealed under the signatures of all Councilmen present, and the City Clerk. A motion was then made by Councilmen White, seconded by Councilman McNeece, that as all requirements of law had been complied with, the ballot box be placed in the vault and be delivered to the Clerk of the Election Board on the morning of November 19th, as sealed.
