12-03-46 Special '\~ DECEMBER 3rd, 1946 Upon call of the Mayor a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Delray Beach was held upon receipt of the official certification from the Election Board on the election returns, to convas the votes cast at the General Election, and for any other necessary business, with Mayor M.M. DeWitt, City Manager H.P. Edmond, City Attorney J.W. Nowlin, and the following Councilmen present: F.B. McNeece, J.B. Smith and C.J. White, a quorum being present. The certification of the Election Board of the votes cast was presented, as follows: "Decanber 3rd, 1946. Mayor and City Council Delray Beach Florida We, the Clerk and Inspedtors of today's General Election certify to 'the following results: FOR TWO YEAR TERM M.M. DeWitt C.J. White W.A. Jacobs J .M. CROMER 424 Votes 418 Votes 37 Votes 27 Votes FOR ONE YEAR TERM J.B. Smith 411 Votes W.O. Winn 26 Votes Willard Waters 1 Votes Howard Cromer 1 Votes R. C. Lawson 1 Votes A.L. Miller 1 Votes Clerk: (Signed) B.F. Sundy Inspectors: Si ned A.J. Caraker Si ed Kin S. Cone Si ed L.F. Ranson " After checking the t ally sheets, which were found to be correct, a motion was made by Councilman McNeece, seconded by Councilman Smith that Mr. M.M. DeWitt and Mr. C.J. White be declared elected for two year terms as Councilmen, and J .B. Smith be declared elected for a, one year term as Councilman. Upon call of roll the motion carried unanimously. A motion was thEm made by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman White, that the ballot box be kept sealed, and in the vault, for three days, as provided in the City Charter. Upon call of roll the motion carried unanimously. In the absence of Councilman Butler, Councilman Smith was appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Finance Committee. . "1)U DECEMBER 3rd, 1946 A bill from Mayhew & Sowell, in the amount of $1,350.00, covering the purchase of 1-1/2 Ton Used Dodge Truck, Model WC-6243A, having been approved by the Finance Committee, was ordered paid, in a motion made by Councilman McNeece, seconded by Councilman White, and unanimously carried.
