COUNCIL CHAMBER
September 17, 1945
The Council met in adjourned session at 8 P.M.
The following members were present. Mr. DeWitt,
Mr. Jacobs, Mr. Thayer, and lilr., :laters. Mr. White was
absent. Attorney Nowlin was present also.
Work was continued on the 1945-1946 ~udget.
Anticipated expenditures for the year were i175,900.
Anticipated revenue, $98,750.

carried, that the following Resolution be adopted:

RESOLUTION #540.
A RESOLUTION OF 1~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DELRAY BEACH, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA,
ADOPTING ITS ANNUAL BUDGET OF ESTIMATED EX-
PENSES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1945-1946 AND
LEVYING A TAX ON ALL PROPERTIES WITHIN THE
CITY OF DELRAY BEACH FOR THE PRINCIPAL AND
INTE:REST ON BONDED INDEBTEDNESS AGAINST THE
PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE FORMER CITY OF
DELRAY, AND ALLOCATING AND APPROPRIATING
SAID COLLECTIONS THEREUNDER.
Millage setup bing 13 mills for operating and
11 mills for bond debt service.
The Mayor advised county Commissioner ~yrd was
trying to secure county equipment to haul away the beach
sand 'shich had ,washed up on Ocean Blvd.
Mayor Thayer set the following dates for
election:-
Last day for filing,
Primary election,
General election,
October 31, 1945
November 13, 1945
December 4, 1945
A wife from Wffi. Wheatly expressing his desire
to cooperate ,in having his land filled in was read and
ordered filed.

Letter of objection to trailer camp on A. Clark
property was read and ordered turned over to the Zoning
Commission.
Application from J. I. Helvenston was discussed
by the Council, and the Clerk was instructed to advise
Mr. Helvenston there will be a place for him in the
city's employ when he returns home.

Attorney Nowlin advised he was practically
through with the re-codifying of city ordinances and
resolutions and thought he would complete same by
October 1, 1945.
Mr. DeWitt stated byth Mr. Scott and Mr. Hofman
had offered to let the city use their vacant lots on the
beach for the purpose of burning debris caused by storm.
Mr. Ogren advised the Council that inasmuch as
the county contemplated raising the level of the bridge
to about 4 or 5 feet more in the center when the new
bridge is built, his client, Mrs. Weir, was having to
raise the level of floor on her new building, and he
wondered if some plan could be 'vorked out whereby steps
could be built to the north of the building. Inasmuch
as this would enroach on the set-back which is required,
the Council agreea to check into the matter with
Mr. Ogren further before advising him.
There being no further business to come before
the Council, Council adjourned.
