The Council met in Special "ession at 8 P.T:. on
call of the hc'ayor, for the pun10se of canvassing the
returns of the General Election held December 4th.All
members of the Council were present. Attorney Nowlin
was absent.
In conformity with Se ction 137 of the City Charter,
the Council then proceeded to canvassthe returns of the
General Election held December 4th.

The election returns, as made to the Mayor and the
City Clerk, were submitted for the Council's approv"l,
and it was re~ularly moved by Mr. Jacobs, seconded by
Mr. ifuite, and unanimously carried that certification by
the Election Board of the following election returns be
accepted and approved, and that Mr. Butler, Mr. Hill,and
Mr. McNeece be declared nominees.

Guy was tabled for further consideration wh~n it was
found his office 'Noule be located in an 'apartment house
zone.
Letter sicned by E.H. Varno, Orson L. Kelly, John
Morey, Jay R. Shattuck, Chas. C. Hering requesting ex-
tention of closinE hours on bars one hom; was read, and
tabled for further consideration.
It was regularly moved, seconded, and unanimously
carried that 'r.A.ilard be Employed at a salary of $165.
per month as of November 26th, in 1~. Harvel's Dept., also
that Paul Nichols be et~loyed at a salary of $165. per
month commencing December 15th., and that he is to be under
the supervision of the Supt. of Public Works.
Councilman DeNitt recormnended that Mr. Horvel have
his meter man check into the Water Dept. office at certain
regular intervals each day to enable the clerk to give
proper service to her ,customers.
The Mayor requested the Finance and Ordinance Comm~
ittee give thought to the zoning Droblem, also to the re-
codifying of City ordinances and resolutions.
Councilman Jacobs stated persons living on S.E.,5th
Avenue in 'Zook' houses were inq\t~'ring as to buildiJlg of
road in alley. ," ,
