The Council met in special session on call of the Mayor
at 4:P.M.; for the purpose of taking emergency action on the purchase
of a Sanitary Dep t. tru ck, a n'l for any oth er me tters of bus illllss
which might need the Council's action at this time; with all members
of the City Counc il and the City Attorney present.
The Mayor turned the meeting over to LR. McFee, Chairman
of the S'lnitation Dept. who had the Clerk read the fallowtng letter:

We have finally secured the ne cessary information that enables
us to quote you on t blI truck we have discussed.
We propJbse to supply you with one new Ford 158" chassis wt th
cab, 7:50 x 20 tires, all around, dual rears and all tt. usual
equipmen t, as supplied by the manufacturer, for thf sum of
$1,513.39. Delivery to be made to your representative at
;racksonville, 1"18.
Price quoted is l!I!'lximum price approved by Office of Price
Administration and is subject to change to conform with any
change in ceiling prices which Office of Price Administration
may iSSUE!.
Should you de cide to accept t his proposal app lic at ion to Office
of Defense Transportation, f.or Certificate of Nedessity, should

vVe propose to furnish you with one (1)9 yard Gar Wood
Load-Packer, painted, lettered and mounted on your new
truck (truck to be furnished by you) F.O.B. J"acksonvil1e,
Fla., for the net sum of $2460.00
It is our understand ing that you h:ave $3,000 .00 with
which to purchase a new truck and a sanitary closed type
garbage body. That you plan to purchase the new truck
from your local dealer and purchase the body from us.
The comple te unit will cost a littlc more than this amount
and since discussing thc matter with you, if you will
purchase your truck, we will apply the amount you have
left over the oost of your truc~, to the purchase price
of the body and carry the balance until you make up your
new budget in October.
Should your local dealer fail to be able tu furnish you
wi th the truck chassis we will furnish you with the complete
unit using either a Ford, Chevrolet, or Dodge for the
net amount of ---$4150.00 F.O.B. J"acksonville, Fla. At
the time of deliver:l of the unit in Jacksonville, Fla.
by paying $3,000.00 desh down and tm balance in October
after your budget is completed.
The above unit is subject to Vi.P.B. releasing tho truck.

A general discussion ensued regarding both communications

.after which the Council decided it was less expensive to purlifhase
" t1.e truck chassis and cab looally, and purchase the Load Packer
from Gaynon Iron Works. The Total ~sttofftruck, mounted with
load packer being $3,973.39.
Mr. McFee statlld the, (i:ity would be allowed a kick-back
from between forty to sixty dollars on the governm.nt tax, and
said he would instruct the Cle rk how to apply for this.

. Councilman Wodischek made a motion the t the City purchase
Ford truck from Delray Beach Motors for the sum of $1513.39 am the
load packer from Gaynon Iron Works for the sum of $2460.00, paying
cash for same. Mr. Watllrs seconded the motion which carried
unanimously on roll call.

By motion regularly made, seconded, am carried, the
Lion's Club was granted permission to use City owned lot opposite
the Tennis COurts for a Fourth of JUly Rodeo Show, am are to have
their license fee remitted after the Fourth.

A discussion tookll'lace regarding advisability of the
City letting a group of young people use tht flood lights at the
Diamond Ball Field. No act ion w~s taklln at this time.
The City Attorney informed the Council the City co uld
purChase the ten acre tract, just south of the new cemetery addition,
from the State, for $36.60. By motion regularly made, seconded
and carried, he was instructed thepurchase this tract for the City.
The re being no further busine ss to come beforllthe Council,
~ouncil adjourned.
