, The Council met in Special Session at 4 P.M. on call
of the Mayor, for the purpose of hearing proposi tion from Smi th
& Gillespie, Engineers, and for any other matters of business
that needed the Council's action a t this time. The following
members were present: Councilman W.A. Jacobs, J".A.Thayer,
'.V.M. i'laters, and F.W. W'odischek. Councilman McFee was absent.
City Attorney J.W. Nowlin arrived after the meeting was called
to @rder.
Mr. Smith gave a very interesting talk regarding

post-war projects. He outlined the work his flJrm dld, am told
the Counail details of plans another City had for after tbe
war. He stated the govermrent was planndng on assisting cities
in post-war projects, and thought we should apply for our
proportion of this. He stated if a pro je ct runs over $50,000.
his firm would handle all the engineering details for 2% If
they furnish a resident the engineer the chal'ge would be 3%.
Mr. Waters said the total fee then on projects running less
than $50,000. would be 7~. No action was taken at this time.
, Councilman 'Vod.chek asked far an estimate from Mr.
Smith, for inspecting the\City water tank. Mr. Smith stated
he cO,uld have the job inspected, and plan specifications for
the job for in the neighborhood of $3::10.00.
Mayor Thayer asked f'or a new mo.tion regarding the
purchase of the Series "crt notes,..inasmuch as the perce ntage
included in the original motion was incorrectly stated. Mr.
Waters moved that the City purchase $37,600.00 Treasury
Savings Notes, Series "C" which bear 1.07% interest if held
until maturity, which is thre.e ye aI'S from the issuance date.
Mr. Wodischek seconded the l'Dtion whiCh carried unanimously
on roll call. Attorney Nowlin fnformed the Council that this
was a lega;L investment of the funds.

Councilman Wodischek reported the water ta'1l( had been
drained and inspected. It needed sand blastim and painting.
He had secured estimates from Jack Sharpe of Urlando and the
Service Iron Works of West Palm Beach. Total estimate being
$3,900.00. He requested the Members to meet With these Wwo
contractors Wednesday afternoon, August 2nd, 1944 at 5 P.M. for
the purpose of inspecting the tank, am hea ring the contractors
recommendations. The members_ agreed to meet with the contractors
at the time stated. .
Councilman Wodischek mowed that the ~urchase of the
