COUNCIL CHAMBER
July 13, 1943.
The Council convened in adjourned session at 8:00 P.M. as
a Board of Equalization, with the following members present: Mr.
Jacobs, Mr. McFee, and Mr. iiodischek. Mr. Miller and Mr. Hill were
absent.
Mr. C. J. Manson appeared before the Board protesting the
$250.00 assusmant placed against the abandoned Bowling Alley Courts,
Canopy &C, located on Lots (47-48) Block 133, contending that this
construction was of no value at the present time, inasmuch as its
use had been discontinued since the Spring of 1941. He requested
that this valuation be removed from the roll.

There being no other complainants present to be heard, the
Tax Assessor submitted various complaints which had been made to
the Board, through his office, as follows:
C. W. Hill complained that the $1,000.00 assessment placed
against his garages located on Lots 7 & 8 Block 59, was too high,
inasmuch as he had been able to build his new garage for $700.00.
The Tax Assessor explained that it possibly had been built for that
amount, but it had an actual value of $1,000.00. He thought that
probably some reduction might be due for the old garage, which Mr.
Hill claimsd was of no value whatever and which he intended to tear
down.

Mrs. Barron complained tha t her home had been over-assessed,
claiming that the inside was in a much run-down condition and was"
actually not worth the assessment placed against it.

W. B. Hendrickson who owns a smll dwelling on the canal in
Block 128, contended that this house was also over-valued, and asked
that it be re-checked.

W. J. Enright requested a reduction in the value placed
against his two houses on Beach Lot 4, stating that an inspection of
the inside of these houses would satisfy the Assessor as to its being
over-valued. He said many of the extras, shown in the plans on file,
had been omitted in order to keep the cost under 15,000.00 when originally
