WITHTHE FOLLOWING MEMUERS PRESENT; MR. JACOBS, MR. MILLER, MR. SABATH,
ANO MR. SCOTT. MR. HILL WAS ABSENT.
THE FOLLOWING ,ERSONS APPEAREO TO INSPECT THE ROLL AS TO THEIR
RESPECTIVE ASSE8SMENTSr
DR. KING COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ASSESSED VALUATION PLACED AGAINST
HIS HOME PROPERTY IN BLOCK 2 DELL PARK, STATING THAT HE CONSIDERED HIS
HOUSE.ASSESSED TOO HIGH, COMPARED TO SIMILAR PROPERTIES IN TOWN.
MRS. SARAH PEARCY THOUGHT HER HOME IN BLOCK 71 WAS ASSESSED TOO
HIGH FOR THE OLD TYPE OF BUILDING IT WAS, A~D ASKED REDUCTION ON HER
VALUATION.
J.P. GAINES ASKED A REDUCTION ON HIS'VACANT LOTS 1,2, & 3,
BLOCK 63, STATING THEY W~RE ASSESSED FOR CONSIDERABLY MORE THAN HE HAD PAID
FOR THE PROPERTY.
FRANK DEANKASKED A REOUCTION IN THE LAND VALUE OF HIS VACANT
LOTS 2 & 3, BLOCK 8 RIO DEL REY, STATING THEY WERE ASSESSED TOO HIGH AT
$200.00 EACH.
CHAS. ZUCKERMAN THOUGHT THE LITTLE HOUSE A' THE REAR OF HIS
STORE BUILDING IN BLOCK 10~ WAS ASSESSED TOO HIGH AT $1200.00. HE ALSO
THOUGHT HIS STORE BUILDING WAS OVER-ASSESSED AS COMPARED WITH A. GeORGE'S
STORE BUILDING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET.
SAMUEL OGREN ASKED A REDUCTION IN THE VALUE DF HIS 50-FOOT LOT
IN BLOCK 129, STATING THAT HE HAD BEEN UNABLE TO FIND SALE POR IT AT $500.00.
MRS. J.B. STRANGE ENTERED COMPLAINT IN BEHALF OF HER SISTER, MISS
D.M. CHITTY REGARDING VALUATION 'LACED ON HER PROPERTY IN BLOCK 99, WHICH SHE
CONSIDERED OVER-ASSESSED FOR THE TYPE OF BUILDINGS ON THE PROpERTY. .
J.M. SOUTHARD ASKED REDUCTION ON HIS VACANT LOT !lO, BLOCK 5 OSCEOLA
PARK, WHICH HE SAID WAS ASSESSED AT $160. BUT WHICH HE WOULD SELL FOR $50~OO.
E.C. HALL THOUGHT HIS BUSINESS BUILDING IN BLOCK 101 WAS TOO HIGH,
ASSESSED AT $5,180. HE ALSO CONSIDERED THE DELRAY THEATRE BUILDING TO BE
OVER-ASSESSED, BY REASON OF ITS OBSOLESCENCE, STATING THAT IT WAS OF NO
VALUE EXCEPT FOR THE ONE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS BEING USED.
GEORGE RILEY ASKED SOME CONSIDERATION IN THE ASSESSMENT OF HIS
BUSINESS PROPERT~ ON THE BEACH, BY REASON OF THE FACT THAT ONE STORE HAS
NOT BEEN RENTED BUT DONATED TO "BUNDLES FOR BRITAIN" AND ANOTHER STORE
BUILDING HAD ONLY BEEN RENTED FOR PART OF THE TIME SINCE ITS CONSTRUCTION.
M~F. RILEY TNOUGHT THE VALUATION OF THE SNOW GLEN APARTMENTS WAS
TOO HIGH. COMPARED TO SOME OTHER BEACH AROPERTIES, AND ASKED THAT IT BE REDUCED,

ELIZA PRYOR, ASKED SOME REDUCTION ON HER PROPERTY IN BLOCK 21,
COLORED TOWN, WHICH SHE SAID HAD ONLY FOUR SMALL SHACKS ON AND WHICH SHE
WAS UNABLE TO DISPOSE OF AT THE PRESENT TIME FOR. ANY FAIR PRICE.

MISS LUCILE NICHOLS APPEARED IN BSHALF OF HER MOTHER, STATING
THEY HAD ALWAYS FELT THE RAMONA COURT APARTMENTS WERE OVER-ASSESSED, COMPARED
TO OTHER APARTMENT HOUSE PROPERTIES, SINCE THE BUILDING AND INSIDE E~UIPMENT
HAD NOT BEEN MODERNIZED TO COMMAND THE HIGHER RENTALS RECEIVED IN MOST OF
THE OTHER APARTMENTS IN TOWN. SHE FELT IT SHOULD BE REDUCED SOME.
MR. FRANK GRACEY THOUGHT HIS HOME 'N LOTS 7 & 8, BLOCK 2A TOO

HIGH, AS COMPARED TO JACK LEE}S. HE SAID ~B WOULD BE SATISFIED IF THE
ASSESSMENT WAS MERELY DOUBLE THAT OF LAST YEAR, BOT THOUGHT NO FURTHER
ADVANCE WAS DUE.
W.O~.JELKS, AGENT FOR MR. CARL JONES, ASKED THAT THE VALUATION OF
$12,600. PLACED ON HIS 62 ACRES NORTH OF TOWN BE REDUCED.
MR. JACK LEE EN~UIRED AS TO FIRESTONE COMPANY'S ASSESSMENT, AND
STATED THAT THE SWALL COTTAGE, USED AS A TIRE ROOM, PREVIOUSLY ASSESSED
.ON THE PROPERTY, HAD RECENTLY BEEN TOWN DOWN. IT WAS THEREFORE AGREED TO.
REMOVE THIS VALUATION FROM THE TAX ROLL.
MR. B.C. BUTLER ENQUIRED AS TO HIS PERSONAL PROPERTY ASSESSMENT
BUT MADE NO COMPLAINT AS TO SAME.
CALVING WILLIAMSON ENQUIRED AS.TO THE VALUATIONS PLACED AGAINST
HIS VARIOUS RESIDENCE AND BUSINESS PROPERTIES AND EXPRESSED HIMSELF AS
BEING SATISFIED, PROVIDING THE MILLAGE WAS REDUCED PROPORTIONATELY TO THE
RAISE IN VALUATIONS.
MR. BISHOP BAILEY STATED HIS HOUSE AND IMPROVEMENTS ONHIS
PROPERTY IN BLOCK 107 HAD BEEN ASSESSED FOR MQUE THAN THEY ACTUALLY
COST AND ASKED THAT SOME REDUCTION BE MADE.
C.E. BRITTON ASKED THAT THE LAND VALUE PLACED AGAINST HIS 240
FEET IN BLOCK L22, FACING N.E. 2ND STREET BE REDUCED FROM $2,000. WHICH
HE CDNSIDERED TOO HIGH.
MRS. MARTHA PRIEST ASKED THAT BOTH HER LAND AND HOUSE VALUATIONS
BE REOUIlED ON LOT 24 BLOCK 7 OSCEOLA PARK, STATING THAT THE ASSESSED VALUATION
OF $:l,424. WAS MORE THAN SHE COULD SELL THB PROPERTY FOR.
MR. A. GEORGE ASKED A REDUCTION IN HIS PERSONAL PROPERTY ASSESSMENT,
AS HE SAID HE CARRIED LESS STOCK THAN THE NOVELTY DRESS SHOP ANB OTHER
MERCAftTILE PLACES IN TOWN, WHICH ~ERE ASSESSED THE SAME OR LESS THAN HE WAS.

FRED SCOTT CONSIDERED THE SEACREST GARAGE BUILDING AND APARTMENTS
WERE ASSESSED TOO MUCH AS COMPARED TO THE COLONY HOTEL ANNEX.
THE BOARD AGREED TD LOOK INTO THESE COMPLAINTS AND ADVISE THESE
DWNERS AS TO I.TS FINDINGS AND THE FINAl. ASSESSMEilT AGREED UPON AS
EQUITABLE IN THE ~UDQMENT DF THE BDARD.

THERE BEING NO FURTHER COMPLAINTS TO BE HEARD IT WAS AGREED TO
AD~OURN UNTIL AFTER THE BOARD HAD INVESTIGATED THE COMPLAINTS RECEIVED,
AND TD MEET AGAIN IN FINAL SESSION .S A BOARD OF EQUALIZATION ON MoNDAY
