AVENUE. IT WAS REPORTED THAT SAID APPliCATION HAD BEEN ADVERTISED,
AND lAID OVER THE REQUIRED 14-DAYS FOR INVESTIGATION BY THE COUNCil,
AND THAT NO PROTESTS ON SAME HAD BEEN RECEIVED. IT WAS THHREFORE

MR. SECNOR HAD MADE A SURVEY OF STREET liGHTS AND HAD FOUND 10
PlACES WHERE liGHTS WERE BADlY NEEDED, AND THEREFORE RECOMMENDED
THAT THESE 11 GHTS BE INSTAllED.
IT WAS MOVED BY MR. CREGO THAT MR. MillER'S REPORT

COUNCilMAN MillER STATED MR. JOHN HAWlEY REQUESTED THE
CONSENT OF THE COUNCil TO PlANT TWO CABBAGE PAlus BETWEEN THE CURB
AND SIDEWAlK ON CITY RIGHT-OF-WAY, IN FRONT OF HIS RESIDENCE,
CORNER OF SWINTON AVENUE AND N. E. SEVENTH STREET. THIS WAS
DISCUSSED, BUT THE MAYOR AND SOME OF THE COUNCil MEMBERS THOUGHT
IT WOUlD BE SETTING A BAD PRECEDENT, AS SUCH TREES PlANTED ON THE
STREETS OFTEN BECOME TRAFFIC HAZARDS. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THA T
ACTION BE DEFERRED, FOR THE TIME BEING.

LAUDERDAlE, THE NEWly APPOINTED PlAYGROUND DIRECTOR, HAD BEEN
GOING OVER THE PlAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AND HAD FOUND MOST OF IT IN
BAD CONDITION, WORN OUT AND DETERIORATED FROM EXPOSURE TO THE
WEATHER, AND THEREFORE REQUIRING TO BE REPlACED. HE SUBMITTED A
liST OF SMAll EQUIPMENT AMOUNTING TO $2B.95 WHICH HE SAID WAS

MR. BRADSHAW,' CHAIRMAN OF THE WATER COMMITTEE, REPORTED THAT
THE TEST WElls H AD BEEN DR IIIED TO A DEPTH OF 215 FEET, AND NO ROOK
HAD BEEN ENCOUNTERED BElow A lEVEl OF 109 FEET, EVERYTHING BElow THAT
DEPTH BEING OF A SHEll FORMATION THAT WAS IMpOSSIBlE TO CORE.
SAMPlES OF THE WATER AT THE 109- FOOT lEVEl HAD BEEN TAKEN AND
FORWARDED TO BOTH THE STATE BOARD OF HEAlTH AND TO DR. KlEIN OF THE
LAYNE-ATlANTIC COMPANY'S WATER TREATMENT DIVISION, AND IT WAS
EXPECTED THAT REPORTS ON THESE SAMplES WOUlD BE AVAilABlE SOME
TIME THE FollOWING WEEK. THE REPORT OF THE WATER COMMITTEE WAS
ORDERED'FIIEO AWAITING FURTHER DEVElOPMENTS.
THE MAYOR URGED THE REMOVAl OF COCOANUTS FROM TREES AlONG
CITY STREETS, TO AVOID ACCIDENT AND PROPERTY DAMAGE BY REASON OF

INTERESTED IN DBTAINING THE NUTS AS HE HAD lOST MONEY ON THEM

GROWTH AT THE EAST END OF THE PUBliC RIGHT-OF-WAY COMMONlY KNOWN
AS LOVERS LANE, AND SAID THAT BOTH MISS HUNTER AND MRS. GIBBS
HAD REQUESTED THAT THESE BE REMOVED. HE THEREFORE MADE A MOTION
THAT LOVERS LANE BE ClEANED OUT. MR. BRADSHAW SAID HE WOUlD

MR. EISINGER, REPORESENTATIVE OF THE AMERICAN-LAFRANCE
FIRE' ENGINE,COMPANY, CAME BEFORE THE COUNCil WITH A PROPOSITION FOR
PURCHASE OF FIRE HOSE AND REPAIR PARTS FOR THE LAFRANCE TRUCK
PURCHASED FROM SAID COMPANY IN 1929.
HE SAID HE AND THE FIRE CHIEF HAD CHECKED INTO THE HIS-
TDRY OF THE FIRE APPARATUS AND FOUND THAT CONSIDERABlE REPAIR PARTS
HAD BEEN PURCHA SED AND WERE NEEDED AT THE PRESSNT TIME, FOR REPA IRS
AND REPlACEMENTS ON THE ENGINE, WHICH WAS MOST UNUSUAl IN THEIR,
EQUIPMENT. THAT THERE EVIDENTlY HAD BEEN SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE
MOTOR TO CAUSE THESE PARTS TO WEAR OUT, AND THAT AlTHOUGH THE
TRUCK WAS ElEVEN YEARS OlD AND PAST THE GUARANTY PERIOD, YET HE
WAS RECOMMENDING, TO HIS COMPANY THAT SOME ADJUSTMENT BE MADE ON
SAME, AS TH E I R TRUCK S SElDOM SHOWED. EVEN M I NOR TROUB lE I N THAT

OPERIITE AND THOUGHT A SOlAR SYSTEM MI GHT BE BETTER. AFTER DISCUSS-
ION, IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT FIGURES ON BOTH HEATING SYSTEMS BE
