COUNCIL CHAMBER
March 21, 1938
The Council met in special session, at
7:30 P.M. with the City Attorney and following
members present: Mr. Hall, Mr. Hill and Mr.
Wodischek. Mr. Foote was absent and Mr. Gwynn was
present for only the latter part of the meeting.

The matter of pipe purchase came up for
discussion, and it was moved by Mr. Wodischek that
Asst. Supt. Cromer be instructed to order, for
immediate delivery, from McWane Case Iron Pipe 00.,
2 cars of 10" Bell & Spigot O.B. Coated pipe with
accessories and fittings necessary for installation;
that the following order be placed with the M&H
Valve Fitting Company, Anniston, Alabama, for
immediate delivery:
5 4i" valve opening hydrants 2-way & steamer
connection
2ra" trench, Delray Specifications, red
barrel aluminum bonnett & caps 59.15

and that the Olerk be authorized to make payment
for said pipe and fittings costing approximately,
$5,000.00, out of the Water Fund. Mr. Hall seconded
the motion, and on roll call, the vote was as follows
Mr. Foote absent, Mr. Gwynn absent, Mr. Hall yes.
Mr. Hill yes, Mr. Wodischek yes. The motion carried.

It was further moved, seconded and carried
that stop order be placed on the six and eight jnch
pipe and fittings until such time as purchase can be
financed.
After this, a general discussion of various
City matters was entered into.
The Clerk reported payment, by Briny Breezes
Trailer Camp, of the $50.00 charge for service
rendered by the city's Fire Department and in regard
to such services, it was regularly moved, seconded
and carried that $50.00 be the established charge
for answering fire calls outside the City.

Complaint was made in regard to private
parties connecting up and using water from fire
hydrants and City water mains without having ob-
tained required permission. It was pointed out
that this was an offence and the City Clerk was
instructed to notify all contractors, that, in future,
such violations of the City ordinance would he
punished. in eccord with the provisions of said' "
ordinance. It was further recommended that a
connection charge of $5.00 be made to such parties
requiring water through fire hydrants; that Mr.
Baker meter such connections and that the cost of
the water be added in addition to the $5.00
connection cost.

Asst. Supt. Cromer reported he would require
further use of Grover Baker's trucks and asked the
Council's authority to employ same. It was moved
by OouncilmanWodischek that Mr. cromer be author-
ized to incur an expense of approximately $150.00
to $170.00 for equipment rental, as outlined, and
that a credit be given Mr. Baker for such amount,
to be used by him, in future, to offset taxes or
charges which the Oity may have against him from
time to time. Mr. Hall seconded the motion, which
carried unanimously.
