06-10-38 Called H'lt Co.UNCIL CHAMBER . June la, 1938 In conformity with Section 137 of the City Charter, the Council met in called session at 7:0.0. P.M. for the purpose of canvassing returns of the Special Library Election held June 7th. The City Attorney and the following members of the Council were present: Mr. Gwynn, Mr. Hall and Mr. Hill. Mr. Miller and Mr. Wodischek were absent. It was regularly moved by Mr. Gwynn, that the following resolution be adopted. " WHEREAS, certified copies of the election returns as delivered to the Mayor and City Clerk by election officials in charge of the special Library Election, held in the City of Delray Beach on June 7th, show 262 votes to have been cast; and also show votes to have been cast on the two questions voted upon, as follows: Shall the City pass an ordinance to establish and maintain a public library and reading room? Fo.R 10.7 votes AGAINST 151 votes Shall the City Council levy an annual tax not to exceed two mills for the purpose of maintaining saidpublic library and reading room? Fo.R 65 votes AGAINST 185 votes No.W THEREFo.RE BE IT RESo.LVED by the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, that said election returns show the electors to have been opposed to, and to have voted against the above issues, viz. "The establishment, by the City, of a public library and reading-room" and "The annual levy, not to exceed two mills, for the maintenance of said public library and reading room." 94~ Co.UNCIL CHAMBER - June 10., 1938 The motion to adopt said canvassing resolution was seconded by Mr. Hall, and on roll call the vote was as follows: Mr. Gwynn yes, Mr. Hall yes, Mr. Hill yes. The motion carried. . The Clerk was instructed to invite a group of representative citizens to meet with the council, Tuesday evening, June 14th, for the purpose of entering into round-table discussion of the proposed bond refunding agreement which is to be voted on by Delray freeholders on June 28th.
