08-31-38 Special 1004 COUNCIL CHAMBER August 31, 1938 The Council sat in special session at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of revising license tax. The follow- ing members were present: Mr. Hall, Mr. Hill, Mr. Miller and Mr. Wodischek. Mr. Gwynn came in late. AN ORDINANCE DEFINING THE PRACTICE OF BARBER- ING AND MANAGEMENT OF BARBER SHOPS AND REQUIR- ING A LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION AS A CONDITION TO ANY PER20N PRACTISING BARBER- ING OR ANY PERSON ATTEMPTING TO NillNAGE OR OPERATE A B.~BER SHOP AND PRESCRIBING THE TElliV-S AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH THE LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES OF REGISTRATION NAY BE ISSUED TO ANY PERSON TO PRACTISE BARBERING OR TO ~~AGE OR OPERATE A BARBER SHOP IN THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, STATE OF F[,ORIDA. CREATING A CITY BOARD OF BARBER EY~INERS AND DEFINING AND DECLARING ITS POWER AND DUTIES; REGULATING THE PRACTICE OF BARBERING AND lV';ANAGEMENT OF , BARBER SHOPS BY THOSE LICENSED HEREUNDER; IMPOSING CEr,TAIN FEES UPON PERSON APPLYING FOR LICENSE, OR CERTIFICATES OF REGISTRATION TO PRACTISEBARBERING OR OPERATE OR MANAGE A BARBER SHOP IN THIS CITY AND APPROPRIATING THE PROCEEDS THEREOF TO ACCOMPLISH THE PURPOSES OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REGULATIONS HEREUNDER. It was regularly moved, second and unanimously carried that said ordinance be passed on its seoond reading and :final passage. ORDINANCE 230 BOOK 4 AN ORDINANCE FOR SAFEGUARDING LIFE AND PROPERTY BY REGULATING, AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION OF ELECTRIC VITRING, DEVICES, APPLL~NCES AND ErUIPMENT; j.005 COUNCIL CHAMBER - August 31, 1938 '. CREATING THE OFFICE OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AND PRESCRIBING HIS AUTHORITY AND DUTIES; REQUIRING THAT NO ELECTRIC VITRING, DEVICES, FIXTURES APPLIANCES OR EQUIPMENT SHALL BE INSTALLED WITHOUT FIRST SECURING A PERMIT THEREFOR; CREAT- ING A BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EY~INERS; PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING OF PERSONS, FIR1IS AND COR- PORATIONSENGAGING IN THE BUSINESS OF ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING OR EMPLOYING ELECTRICIANS TO DO CERTAIN ELECTRICAL WORK ON LI1ITTED PREMISES; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO ENGAGE IN THE BUSINESS OF ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING OR TO UNDERTAKE THE EXECUTION OF ELECTFICAL WORK '~ITHOUT A LICENSE, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED; MAKING IT UN- LA~~ TO SELL AT RETAIL CERTAIN ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS UNLESS SUCH PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR; PRO- VIDING PENALTIES FOR TF~ VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES ~~ PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE. " The ordinanoe, having been read in full the second time, it was regularly moved, seconded and carried that same . be adopted on its second reading. Building Inspector L.W. Cook brought before the Council, a permit for building for Mr. G.J. Pinckney, which was shy 62 feet in actual square footage and from the shape of the floor plan the house would not show from an outside appearance of being shy this footage, and it was moved by Mr. Wodischek, seconded by Mr. Miller and unanimously carried, that same be granted as requested.
