January lst, 1929.
The Council met in special executive session on
call of the Mayor at 9 A. M. The Mayor and all members
of the Council were. present.
It was moved by Mr. Keen, seconded by tor. Troup
and unanimously carried that the Delray Beach News be
designated as the legal advertising medium for the coming
year.
The matter of park improvements was then taken
up and discussed at length. Mr. Keen made a report of his
inspection of the recreation parks in West Palm Beach. It
was moved by Mr. porter, seconded by Mr. Troup and unani-
moaflsly carried that the matter of installing shuffle boards,
tennis courts etc, be referred to the Light and Park Committee:
with pourer to act.
An invitation was read from Mr. D. B:C Howard, Supt.,;#
of Streets and Public Improvements in the City of Afest Palm
Beach, inviting the City officials to be present at the form-
al opening of the recreational department on January 5th.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the invitation be
accepted and that if possible the, Mayor, members of the Council
City Attorney and the Clerk arrange to be present at that
time.
The Mayor reported that he had had a communication
from Mr. Mobile Bill Jackson in which he stated that he would
be unable to report for duty as life guard before January
15th. The Clerk was instructed to advise Mr. Jackson that
this date would be agreeable to the City for him to enter upon':
his duties. ~~
The Clerk was instructed to write the Florida Power
& Light Company confirming the contract for the installation
of the two hundred and fifty watt light at Northwest First
Avenue and Third Street.

ceed and complete the work as outlined.
A communication was read from the City of Lake Worth
requesting the loan of a copy of our City Charter but as no

copy was available to loan at this time the Clerk was in-
structed to advise them that by referring to the Special
Acts of the 1927 Legislature they could secure such infor-
mation as they might desire.
The matter of garbage disposal for the coming
year bras then taken up and discussed at length. It was
moved by P,:r. Troup and seconded by Mr. Smith that the matter
of garbage collection and cleaning of streets be done under
the direction of theS°~"#.t department after the expiration
of the present contract. The motion was carried unanimously.
Current bills having been 8. K.'d by the Finance
Committee were referred back to the Council and ordered paid.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the matter
of cleaning the lot at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and ~/
the Dixie be referred to the Light & Park Committee.
Mr. Porter then presented a report of a cozmnittee
consisting of Mr. Matt Gracey, Mr. George S. Austerman and
Mr. J. M. Berg, who had been selected to make an appraisements
of the different properties owned by the City. It was
moved by hir. Troup, seconded by Mr. Keen and unanimously
carried that this report be received and filed and that the
appraisers be paid the sum of X5.00 each for their services.
The City Attorney was instructed to get up an
opinion as to the status of State and County taxes on prop- ;
erties owned by the City.
It was moved by Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Keen
that the salary of Oscar Simmons be fixed at X150.00 per month.::
The motion was carried.
It was moved by Mr. Troup and seconded by Mr. Keen
that the salary of Il•iiss. Sadie Sundy be fixed at .`x"150.00 per
month. The motion was carried.
There being no further business the Council ad-
