The matter eras held up for the time being and no action taken. 133 Counci] l~oori - February 25th, 1929. The Clerk was authorized to pay r:!rs. Frank ivTichols the sum of w18.00 as rental for her beach property now being used for storate purposes. It was moved by !ar. Smith that the ;;75.00 realized from the sale of the motorcycle belonging to the City be turned over to the N'ire Department for the purchase of coats and hel- wets. Tl?e aotion vaas seconded by T,Tr, Porter and carried. Nr. Seestedt reported that the play ground improvements were practically completed outside of the tennis courts and suggested that the construction of these courts be deferred for the time being as he was unable to secure the necessary help. FIe also outlined a plan for conducting the shuffle board games and reccm,.ended that two additional courts be instal7.ed for juvenile players. Tv1r. DeParlier, representing the local school board, suggested that. the City assist in building three courts on the public school grounds and that one of the courts so constructed be used by the public, this would cost approximately ~400.G0, This matter vaas discussed at considerable length after which_:?r. Porter offered the following motion, that the City construct four additional shuffle board courts in the City Park. The motion was seconded by i'_r. The vote vras declared a tie and some discussion arose as to the legality of the presidents vote and the matter went over vrithout further discussion. I~Tr. Parker then addressed the °ouncil in the interest of an air port in the City. He suggested a site that could be secured on the Germantown Road at a rental equal to the amount of the City taxes. It eras moved, seconded and carried that this matter be referred to the Street ~om:~ittee. T:ir. J. vi. Bu11en appeared before the Council in referen- ce to taxes paid thru error or, certain property and on :notion duly made, seconded a~,d carried this matter was referred to the Finance Committee. The current bills having been audited and G. l.. *d by the Finance Comr^.ittee were on motion dul:r made, seconded and carriecx referred back to the Council and ordered ;paid.
