CCUNCIZ CHAMBER
March 26th, 1929.
The Council met Yn adjourned regular session at
7:30 P. M. with all members of the Council present.
The minutes of the previous meetings were read and
approved.
Mr. Smith, Chairman of the Street Committee; to --
whom the matter of adjusting the sidewalk assessment of Mr.
9:. Simon iri Block Seventy-one had been referred, requested
and was granted further time to report.
A communication was read from Mr• P. Sievers Yn
reference to tax reduction on property situated in the SEA
of the"SEq of the SE4 of Section Five. It was moved, ?
seconded and carried that this matter be referred to the
Finance Committee.
A communication was read Prom Mr. J. B. Powell, Jr.,
in reference to tax a~~nt on lots in Silver Terrace.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the Clerk be in-
structed to advise Mr. Powell that the City Council had no
authority to make reductions as requested.
A communication was read from Mrs. w. M. Bostwick
Jr., in reference to a bill for services rendered in copy-
ing the City Charter at the last session oP the State Leg-
islature. The Clerk was instructed to request Mrs. Bostwick
to furnish an itemized statement of this account.
Mr. Porter then read a report from the w. J. Webb,
Inc., showing the amount of rent collected on the Ranson
property. It was moved, seconded and carried that this re-
port be accepted and Piled.
Mr. Porter requested instructions in regard to making
certaih repairs on the Ranson houses and after considerable
discussion the matter was referred to the finance Committee
~~ ~ ~~ and report at the next regular meeting.
Mr. ~nith, Chairman of the water & Light Committee;
reported that a new well had been drilled-and was now being
pumped showing a very satisfactory quality of v~ater.

In the matter of sending the Fire Chief to the
State Convention of Fire Chiefs at Key YJest, the matter
was discussed at some length but no action taken.
Mr. Smith was requested to see Mr. Mohawk, the
life guard at the beach, in reference to making a yearly
contract with him and report at the next meeting.

Dr. J. R. Cason, Sr., then appeared before the
Council in reference to a bill rendered him for street im=
provement vrork abutting his property on North Swinton Ave.
After quite a lengthy discussion it was moved, seconded
and carried that this matter be referred to the Street
Committee for further investigation.
Current bills having been audited and 0. B. 'd by
the Finance Committee were on motion duly made, seconded
and carried referred back to the Council and ordered paid.
Council adjourned.
