04-22-29 Regular-J~ COUI~?CIL ROOM April 22nd, 1929. The Council met in regular session at 7x30 P. M., all members of the Council were present. The minutes of the meeting held on April 8th were read and approved. Mr. Smith reported that no agreement of settlement had been reached in reference to the adjustment of certain street and side- walk improvements in Block 67, abutting the properties of Mrs. Amanda w. Sypert and Rev. J. R. Cason. The committee was contin- ued. Mr. Smith also reported that in the matter of extending the water main for the Boy Scouts that his committee was ready to make such extension as soon as applied for. The Clerk was authorized and instructed to draw and transfer', the sum of ~8",498.20 to New York banks for the purpose of meeting bond and interest coupons maturing May 1st, 1929. It was moved by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Keen, and carried that the matter of selling the Cline property be left with the Finance Committee for further consideration. The Finance Committee then reported that they had reoonsid- ered the sale of the Cline property and recommended that the same be sold in apcordanee with the oontract, after pertain changes as per terms in said contract, as recommended by the City Attorney, and that said contract be signed and placed in escrow without being aoknowledged in the Florida State Bank. Mr. Porter then moved that this property be sold in accord- ance with said contract. The motion was seconded by Mr. Keen and on roll pall unanimously parried. Mr. Porter introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: "WHEREAS, there are certain city taxes for the year 1926 rise sed against a lot 150x200 feet in the Northeast corner ;f of the SE~ of SE4 of the SE4 oP Section 5, Township 46, South of Range 43 East, in the amount of $31.32, and interest and fees thereon amounting to X41.72; and WHEREAS, Mr. P. Sievers has offered to pay the sum of 16.74 in full settlement of taxes covering said property; NOR', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TrIE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said offer oP settlement 1.61 Council Room - April 22nd, 1929. made by P. Sievers, as herein set forth, be accepted in full settlement of the taxes on said lot 150x200 feet in the Northeast corner~of the SE4 of the SE4 of the SEA of Section 5, Township 46 South of Range 43 East, and the Clerk of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, is hereby authorized to cancel tax sale eertifi- eates on this property and accept the -said sum of X16.74 in full settlement of the taxes due thereon, and to issue receipts to the said P. Sievers covering said property". The resolution was seconded by Mr. Troup and on roll call unanimously adopted. Mr. Troup then introduced the following resolution, which was seconded by Mr. Porter, and on roll call unanimously adopted: "WAERE95 certain trees, shrubs, flowers and other pizbla property in the municipal cemetery in the City of Delray Beach, Florida, have heretofore been stolen, destroyed, mutilated or carried away; and WHEREAS FURTFfSR certain property belonging to said City Io= Gated in the parks of said Gity and elsewhere, has been destroyed, ,: mutilated or stolen by the carving or initials, names and otherwise hacking and whittling on public property of said City, and by otherwise mutilating, defacing or destroying same. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the authority aforesai that said Citp does hereby offer a Twenty,-five 25.00) Dollar e ward to be paid to any person o€~"~~gh~t3n~~`!'oe$"t~'~"ar"rest and con ~ viction of any person or persons who might be found guilty of re- moving shrubs, trees, flowers, ferns or any other plants from the municipal cemetery or other public parks or grounds of said City, or otherwise destroying, stealing, defacing or demolishing any of the chairs, benches, houses or other public property belonging to said City." Mr. Troup brought up the matter of bakeries owning plants in other city's or towns selling their products in competition with local bakeries who were forced to pay an occupational license. ° The matter was referred to Mr. Trroup for investigation. Mr. Troup also reported that thru some misunderstanding the Delray Electric Company sent workmen to the Park for the purpose of installing lights over the shuffle board courts but as no one had ;r been authorized to order this work done no installation was made. Mr. Troup, Mr. Keen and Mr. Porter were appointed a cosmmittee to work out a plan for the installation of the shuffle board coart lights. lfi3 Council Room - April 22nd, 1929. Mr. Hand reported that the straw vote conducted by the Delray Beach nTews in reference to employing an all time life guard at the beach was as follows: For employing an all time life guard - 11 Ag8lnst tt n n tt n _ 17 The Council decided to dispense with the services of the life guard about Map 1st.
