COUNCIL, ROOM
August 26~ 1929.
Council met in regular session at 7:30 P.M, The Mayor
and the following members were present: Mr. Keen, Mr. Porter, Mr.
Smith and Mr. Troup. Pres. V9arfield was absent,
It was regularly moved seconded and carried that Mr.
Smith be ~ect esident~Pro. Tem toe'presidG t~his~meeting
t was regularly moved by Keen and seconded by Mr,
Troup that the Clerk be authorized hnd instructed to forward the
necessary funds to New York to meet interest coupons ~~mdtnring there
on September 1st.
The following ordinance was then introduced and read and
on motion duly made, seconded and carried passed on its first reading.
AN ORDINANCE PASSID BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF Tf~ CITY
OF DELRAY BEACH, AMENDING AN ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY
WIiICH 4i1AS HERETOFORE PARSED ON THE 24Th DAY OF
JANUARYS 1927 FIXING OCCUPATION TAXES APID LICENSES,
BE 1T ORDAINED by the authority of aforesaid that, certain
ordinance passed the 24th day of 3une, 1926, fining occupation taxes
and licenses be and the same is hereby amended by striking therefrom
Sdetion 27 as it now reads, and inserting in lieu therefore and
making same read as follows:
"SECTION 27. Owners or Managers of Bakeries shall pay a
license tax to said City of fifteen dollars (15.00) per annum, which
shall give them the right to sell their bakery products within said City.
Bakers wholesale or retail who shall offer for sale and sell
any bread, cake or other bakery roduets within said city, shall pay a
license tax of fifteen dollars (15.00) per annum, for the privilege
of selling said products within said City,"
PASSED by the authority of aforesaid on the first reading
this, the 26th day of August, A:.D'. 1929. Passed by the authority of
aforesaid and approved by the Mayor on second reading this the
day of A.D~. 1929.

Mr. Troup reported that certain parts of the colored

cemetery was in bad condition on account of having become overgrown
with weeds and brush. It was regal arly moved, seconded and. carried
that this matter be referred to Mr. Troup to get estimates &c. and
report back at the next meeting,
The City Attorney was instructed to prepare arx draft an
ordinace whereby the Judge of the Municipal Court could impose labor
sentences on prisoners in Police Court.
It was moved by Mr. Keen, second ed byMr. Troup and unani-
mously carried that 500* of fire hose by purchased from The Eurbka
Fire. Hose Company at a price of 1.40 afoot subject to a 2j discount
30 days.
Mr. Timberly, representing The American LaFrance Corporation
Dame before the Council with a propostion to sell the City a new fire
truck at a price of 12,000. dol~a rs, payable over a period of seven ,
years, It was moved by Mr. Keen, seconded by Mr. porter, that the
Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to make a contract with The American
La France Corporation to puro.hase a Type 75 Triple Pumper and 5001 of
Standard hose, subject to the approval of the contract by the City
Attorney, On roll call the motion was unanimously carried.
A copy of this original contract on file to be considered
part of these minutes;
In the matter'of TrusteeTS receipts held by the City against
the defunct Ocean City Bank and The Delray Bank and Trust Company, it
was moved by Mr. Keen, seconded by Mr. Troup and unanimously carried
that these receipts ire turned over to the Chairman of the Finance Comm-
ittee with authority to employ special counsel if necessary, and to take
such action to recover, as in his judgment'seemed best.
Council then adjourned to meet Friday, August 30 at 9:00
