11-25-29 Regular~~~ CCUn?CIL ROOM November 25th, 1929. The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P, ll?. The r.4ayor and the following members of the City Council were present: Mr. Keen, Mr. Smith and Mr. Troup. Mr. Smith was on motion duly made, seconded and carried elected president pro tem. Minutes of meetings held November 11th and 16th were read and approved. A communication was read from Mrs. Bertha G. Lanehart re- questing that she be refunded the amount of a widows exemption paid on City taxes. The cottanunication was referred to the City Attorney for an opinion. City City Clerk was instructed to pay the 1928 drainage tax on city owned property in Section 17 and 18. ~; __ The Ordinance Conunittee then introduced an ordinance pro hibiting dogs running at large on the ocean beach. The ordinance was read in fulland on motion duly made, seconded and carried was ~a passed on first reading. 4 A communication was read from Mr. E. J. Tiepins in refer- ence to removing rubbish from his lot on Atlantic Avenue and the Dixie. It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that the City '~+ remove this rubbish. The matter of the City furnishing milk to the family oP Mr. Jack Chisholm was referred to the Special.Committee on Charit3r Mr. Troup was appointed a member of the Special Charity Committee. The Boy Scouts were granted permission to use t~~e•^~.,//vacant property known as the $ook house on Northeast Fourth Sti~~t. The matter of,o}~structions on sidewalk and street at Atlan- tic Avenue and First reet was referred to the Mayor and police. The matter of adjusting delinquent taxes and improvement liens on unimproved property was discussed at length and referred to a committee composed of Mr. Keen and the City Attorney to in- vestigate and report, x The bill of Doctor J. R. Cason, Jr., for X17.00 for pro- fessional services rendered A. D. Jurney Por an injury sustained while fighting a Pire was on motion duly made, seconded and carried allowed and ordered paid. Mr. Arthur Huddell, Commander of the American Legion, `' appeared before the Council and proposed to replace the ropes at Council Room - November 25th, 1929. the bathing beach if the City would furnish the material to do the same. Action on this matter was deferred until the cost could be ascertained. The matter of employing a life ward at the beach was discussed but action deferred until the next meeting.
