12-02-29 Adjourned Regular293 COUNCIL ROOM December 2nd, 1929. The Council met in adjourned regular session at 7:30 P. M. The Mayor and the following members of the Council were present: Mr. Porter, Mr. Smith and D?r. Troup. Mr. Porter offered the following motion: That the City Clerk instructed to prepare the ballot box and deliver the same to the Election Board on the morning of December 3rd, 1929. The motion was seconded by Mr. Troup and unanimously carried. Mr. Hankins, the engineer, presented a statement showing the amount so far expended on the new water plant to be j8275.72, 5~ of which, or X455.15, being due the Main Engineering Company. Mr. Porter offered the fol].owigg motion: That the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to draw a voucher in favor of the Main Engineering Company for 7455.15 covering the amount due them to , December lst, 129. The motion was seconded by P~Ir. Troup and on roll call unanimously carried. ~ Mr. Porter moved that the City enter into a contract with the Palm Beach Post to take a half page add in their special addition to be published December 10th, 1929, at a cost of .~~'88.00. The motion was seconded by P~4r. Troup and unanimously carried. The matter of securing more publicity for the City was referred to the Pdayor and City Cle rk. A communication was received from the Florida Flood Con- trol Association requesting the Council tp pass a resolution en- dorsing the work of this organization. A resolution was adopted endorsing this improvement and the Clerk instructed to fur,,ish .the association with a copy of same. A communication was read from the Southern Bell Telephone Company in reference to installing a telephone at the golf club. 'The communication vaas referred to the Golf Committee to investi- gate and report. Pvir. Huddell, Commander of the American Legion Post, reported that rope, hardware etc, necessar~r to replace the ropes in ti:e ocean at the beach would cost approximately w105.00. P,2r. Porter moved that the City purchase the necessary rope and hardware and that the i._~ vaork of installing same be done by the American Legion Post under the direction of thg ~~i~c-loran Prom z+lard one. The motion was seconded by D,1r. Troup and unanimously carried. 295 Council Room - December 2nd, 1929. Mr. Henry Ostro requested and was granted permission to erect an awning for shelter over a portion oP the minature golf course in the City Park. It was regularly r.~oved, seconded and carried that the transfer of contract or lease Prom 1t2r. R. S. Ers2cine to Mr. I3enry Ostro be ap;,~roved by the City. It was regularly moved, seconded and carried that the City Attorney be instructed to advise Mr. Gaddis, Division Supt. of the F. E. C. Railway Company at ivTiami, that the City demands immediate relief in the matter oP watchman service at the Atlantic Avenue crossing. Thfl._.Ci y Engineer reported that Fairbanks, Morse Lt. Company had requested the Council to pass a resolution authorizing the changing of a motor .for the new water plant o£ a 220 volt to a 2200 volt. The matter of making this change and preparing the resolution was. referred to the Water and Light CommitteeS6rith power to act. It was moved, seconded and carried that the Council ad- journ.
