COUNCIL, ROOM
January 30th, •1928,
The Council met in adjourned regular session, president
J. T,. Troup presiding. The Mayor and all nouneilmen were
present.
A petition from the residents in the neighborhood of the "~
he.bor Temple was presented to the Council requesting the in ,-
stallation of a street light at the corner of southeast Fourth~~°,
Avenue and Pirst Street. It was moved, seconded and carried
unanimously that the power company be instructed to install
the said light. ,''°
The Clerk was instructed to communicate with P.Sr. R. D.
Hill, of the Florida Power Zc bight Company, in order to fanil=~;
itate the removal of the electric poles from the street on the r
North Dixie Highway as previously requested.
It was moved, seconded and carried that bids be received,
from'the colored people for the cleaning up of their cemeter$r
The motion was carried unanimously.
It was moved by Mr. Keen and seconded by P4rs. VJarfield
that the chairman of the Street Committee be empowered to pur-
chase a dump body for one of the City trunks, the purchase to -`
be made to the best advantage of the City. The motion was
Harried unanimously.
The 1Yater Committee was empowered to have repaired the
truck used in the water department and in the most economical
manner.
It was moved, seconded and carried that all purc:~a.sea for
the City be made by means of requisition through the Clerks
office. +r
The audit statement of the City of Delray and Town of
Delray Beach, was presented to the Council by Mr. W. 0. Winn,
auditor. It was moved, seconded and carried that the report
be referred to the Finance Conunittee for recommendation at the
earliest possible date.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the Clerk recom
mend to the County Commissioners that the new bridge tenders

It was moved by 2~.r. Smith that the Mayors appointment of
Mr. VP, b2. Croft as Chief of Police be approved and onfirmed.
The motion was seconded by b7r. Keen and `on roll call the vote
was as follows; Jacobs not voting, Keen yea, Smith yea,
Troup yea, Warfield yea.
It 'was moved by Iwr. Keen that the E4ayors appointment of
George w. Croft as assistant oheif of police be approved arul
confirmed. The motion was seconded by bSr. Smith and on roll
Dell the vote was as follows; Jacoba not voting, Keen yea,
Smith yea, Troup no, V,iarfield yea. Il~Tr. Jacobs changed his
vote from not voting to no on the two previous motions, the
final vote being four to one in favor of the first motion and
three to two on the second motion.
It was •moved by I~ir. Keen, seconded and parried unanimouslyr.
that the question of repairing Swinton Avenue be referred to '<-r
the Street Committee for investigation and recommendation.
