The Council root in special session, the Alayor and the
follov:~ing Councilmen were present; A;Ir. Jacobs, Air. seen, AIr.
Smith and T;Ir. Troup. Alrs. W~sfield was absent.
President Troup read the Call of the Alayor stating the'
purpose of the meeting.
The follov!Tng pieces of land offered. for a water plant site
were taken up and discussed; A4r. 0. D. Priest, pepresenting TtLrs.
Acisley, offering a tract in Block 48 at a priise of y~350.00 per
acre, subject to unpaid taxes. Air. rieen presented a wire and
letter from Ass. Aiary R. Taylor wherein she offered her tract on'
S. Swinton Avenue for 16,500.00, one-third cash. Mr. U. B.
Vlilliams offered a tract in Section 17, lying North of Tourist
Nook at a price of X1,000.00. hIr. A-lo ore offered the American
hegion tract subject to there lease.
Zt 1vas moved by Tir. Smith and. seconded by AIr. Tieen that the "
s•evcral tracts offered be tabulated and referred to the ATayor and
Council and that the same be viewed by them on Tuesday, August 7th.~'~
Discussion of tic 1928-29 City Budget. was then gone into.
The estimate on parks arid beach was set at 1500.00. Interest on
bank deposits x"3500.00. Income from licenses X1500.00. Ineeme
from. police department '2500.00, and the net income Prom the water
depa.rtrnent at x3600.00. .,_:`

A:r. Thomas. Fields then addressed tiie Council at considerable~~
length and insisted that tire Citrr be run strickly along the lines
of economy.
