October 22nd, 1928.
The Council met in regular sess'on at 7:30 P. P:. The
T,-iayor and all members of the Council-were present.
The minutes of the previous meetings were read and
approved.
The Mayor reported that danger signals for the Federal
Higxiway were constructed and ready to be erected ~.nd that the'
stop signal sigr_ at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and the
Federal highway would be placed in position in the net few
days .
The report of Dr. V. PAP. Jared, pathologist, who had an-
alysed samples of milk being sold in Delray Beach, which
showed the following bacertial count: Mrs. Hoefs 17,000,
Knuths or Few Acres 1,820,000, Coley Dairy 36,000. It was
moved by Mr. 'r~een and seconded by ItTrs. ~VarPield that triis
report be made a part of the minutes and that the GlerY. be
instructed to notify the County Board of Health and furnish
them with a copy of Doctor Jareds report. The motion was
carried.
Mr. Smith, chairman of the committee on building permits,
reported that his committee had been meeting regitiarly ever3*
day at the City Hall at 2 P. Pd, for the purpose of making
inspections, getting up information and passing on building
permits to repair and construct buildings.
The application of P.2r. Rhoden requesting a permit to con-
struct a roof on the P;orth side of the building situated on
the corner of Atlantic and Swinton Avenues was discussed and
it was moved by Mrs. Warfield and seconded by Nir. Keen that a
permit be granted Mr. Rhoden provided he complies with the
requirements of the committee. The motion was carried.
The matter of the use of shingles in the repairing and
construction of roofs was on motion duly made, seconded and
carried referred to the committee on permits.
Owing to contractor Moores absence from the City the
Street Committee was granted further time in the matter of
reporting on the street paving recently constructed on the
Southridge Boulevard.

On motion duly made seconded and carried a permit was
granted 2:4r. Stanton to erect a boiler room at tine rear of his
place of business on Atlantic Avenue on condition that he
comply with the requirements of the committee on building
permits.
It was moved by flIr. Smith and seconded by P.Rr. Keer. that
the City pay Henry Smith, colored, the stun of x'10.00 to reim-
burse him for time lost due to an accident sustained vrrrile on
his regular vrork for the City.
Mr. Jacobs introduced the follovaing emergency ordinance;

motion by Mr. Jacobs, seconded b~ Mrs. Warfield the ordinance
was unanimously adopted.
All members of the Council agreed to meet at 2;30 P. T4. \
on Wednesday, -0ctober 24th, at the Ocean City Bank for the pur-
pose of checking the securities held by the City as collateral;
against certain deposits in that bank.
It was moved by Mr. Smith, seconded by Il~Irs, Warfield and
unanimously carried that the Mayor be requested to notify the
public thru the press that building permits must be secured
_ before making repairs or constructing any new buildings.
Iu~r. Johnson recommended the insta112.tion of e telephone at
the golf club house, the approximate expense tivould be $8.50 per
month. It was moved by Mr. Keen and seconded by fl4r. Jacobs
that the Mayor be authorized to enter into the necessary con-
tract for the phone installation. The motion was carried.
On motion dul~r made, seconded and carried Mr. Smith was
instructed to have the necessary repairs made to doors to the
City garage.
The resignation of Dr. J. R. Cason Sr., resigning as Judge
of the fl4unicipal Court wzs then reau and on motion duly made
seconded. and carried the same was accepted anti the Clerk was
instructed to write Doctor Cason a letter of thanks for his
work while fudge.
It was moved by flir. Jacobs and seconded by fl:Ir. Smith that
Mayor Johnson be elected to Yill the position of fl4unicipal
Judge. The motion was carried unanimously.
_ The Clerk was instructed to draw the necessar~~ funds from
the Central Farmers Bank ~ Trust Coripany to meet interest
coupons and bonds maturing November first.

It was moved by Mr. YCeen, seconded by &Ir, Smith and tmani-
mously carried that the City Attorney be instructed to proceed
to take title to the Rista Hotel property.
Mr. Roy Friedlander appeared before the Council and asked
permission to install a gas filling station on the corner of
Atlantic and Southeast Second Avenues. It was moved, aecor_ded
and carried that this application be referred to the committee
on building permits.
Current bills having been audited by the Finance Committee
were on motion duly made, seIIOnded and carried referred back to
the Council ~.nd ordered paid.
There being; no further business to come before the meeting
Council adjourned to meet bIonday, October 29th at 7:30 P. &I.
