COUNCIL ROOM
November 26th, 1928.
The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P. BR,
All members of the Council were present.
Minutes of the previous meetings were read and
approved.
In the matter of the proposition of Mr. E.•C. Hall to
furnish concerts during the coming season the Finance Committee
recommended that the same be not eca~sidered. Mr. Hall then
addressed the Council and requested that action be deferred in
order to give him time to amend his proposition. His request
was granted and the committee continued.
Mr. Smith reported that he had gotten an estimate on
the repairs for the Chamber of Commerce building but was not
at this time ready to make a final report. Additional time
was granted in which to secure additional estimates.
Mr. Smith also reported that the matter of repairs
on the ocean beach he had been to see Chairman O~Neal of the
County Commissioners and that Mr. Boyd, the County Engineer
had made an examination of the beach and estimated the cost to
repair same at approximately22,00 per Poot. The committee
requested and was granted further time to go into this matter.
A communication was read Prom Mr. J. S. Sundt' requesting per-
mission to move three palm trees on South Swinton Avenue. It
was moved, seconded and carried that this matter be referred
to the Flee Committee.
A communication Prom Mrs. J. J. Sehabinger was read
in which she requested that an improvement lien against her
property on North Swinton Avenue be cancelled.. It was moved,
seconded and carried that this matter be referred to the City
Attorney.
The City Clerk was authorized to allow the Central
Farmers Trust Company to clip coupons Prom the bonds now held
by the City has collateral against bank deposits.
It was moved by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Keen and
unanimously carried that the Clerk be authorized to strike the
Following improvement assessments Prom the roll as it had been
shown there were no improvements on these properties:
Council Room - November 26th, 1928.
Lot 6 Sunset Park - assessed to D. A. Austin amounting
to X600.00
Lot 5 Block 10 Del=Ida Park - assessed to Mrs. J. Myers
amounting to $1600.00.
Mr. L. C. Hand then addressed the Council in reference
to having the Seaboard Air Line Railroad install lights and
telephone at their depot. The Clerk was instructed to write
to the district passenger agent of the Seaboard calling his
attention to the condition now existing at the depot here and
see if some relief could not be gotten.
Mr. Matt Bracey then addressed the Council in reference
to having storm damaged buildings removed. Fire Chief Cook
reported that he was working on a plan to have these damaged
buildings removed at an early date.
It was moved by Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Keen that
the matter of a donation to a community Christmas tree be re-
ferred to the Finance Committee to report at the next regular
meeting. The motion was carried.
The following qualified voters were then elected to
sit as inspeotors and clerk at the regular City election to be
held December 4th, 1928: Mrs. Frank Dean, Mr. w. N. Kling,
Pdr. J. M. Berg and Mr. 0. Helland.
It was moved by Mr. Smith and seconded by Mrs. Warfield
that the election be held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall. The
motion was carried.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the election
board be paid the sum of X4.00 per day each and furnish them
with meals.
Current bills having been referred to and 0. K.'d by
the Finance Committee were on motion duly made, seconded and
Carried referred back to the Council and ordered paid.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the Council ad-
