COUNCIL ROOM
December 17th, 1928.
The Council met in special session at 7:30 P. M. The
Mayor and all members of the Council were present.
In keeping with the call the Mayor then announced the
standing committees for the ensuing year, which are as follows•

The matter of the ocean beach improvement was then taken
up and discussed at length. Mr. Smith reported that his com-
mittee had undertaken to do some filling in and smooth up the
beach as best they could vrithout entailing too much expense.
It was.moved by Mr. Porter and seconded by Mr. Keen that these
improvements be carried on and that the Street Committee be in-
structed to get up a program and a list of the things they con-
sidered necessary to complete this work and report back to the
Council at the next regular meeting. The motion was carried.
It was moved by Mr. Troup and seconded by Mr. Smith that
the Park Committee investigate and ascertain the cost of install-
ing shuffle boards and tennis court in the City Park and report
at the next regular meeting. The motion was carried.

Council Room - December 17th, 1928.
The question of plating the cemetery was discussed and
it developed that no-plat was on file. It was moved by Mr.
Keen, seconded by Mr. Smith and carried that the Clerk be in-
structed to have two blue prints made of the plat.
On motion duly made, seconded and parried the committee
was instructed to have new markers or numbers made for the
graves under the supervision of the Park Committee.
A communication was read from Mobile Bill Jackson and
it was moved, seconded and carried that tY~e ~¢fl~yor b authorized
to enter into a contract with Mr. Jackson^a"~ F!` a ary of X120.00
per month for the coming season.
It was moved by Mr. Keen and seconded by Mr. Troup^that
the Chairman of the finance Committee appoint a committee oP
real estate men to make an appraisement of the real estate now
owned by the City.
The Park Committee was instructed to investigate and
make recommendation as to the disposition of the thatch but on
the vacant lot at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and the Dixie.
Doctor VPebb, representing Mrs. Nina Wilcox Putnmm, appear-
ed before the Council and requested that a contract made by the
former City Council regarding the moving of certain trees on the V
Putnam property on North Swinton Avenue be carried out. On
motion by Mr. Keen and seconded by Mr. Porter the Street Committee
was instructed tb investigate this matter-and reset the trees if,
in their opinion, the same should be done.
Mr. Deparlier was granted permission to use the street
roller and scarifier.
The matter of installing a new street light at First Avenue
and Northwest Third Street was on motion duly made, seconded and V
carried referred to the Zight Committee with power to act.
There being no further business the Council adjourned.
