Public Comments Mayor Glickstein opened the floor for public comments. There being none, public comment was closed. SP.2.17-814 Final Selection of City Manager Recommendation: The City Commission will discuss the following two semi-finalists and make a final selection for the City of Delray Beach City Manager position: ·Edward M. Collins ·Mark R. Lauzier Sponsors:City Manager Department Mayor Glickstein called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Commissioners present were: Commissioner Mitchell Katz Commissioner Shelly Petrolia Vice Mayor James Chard Deputy Vice Mayor Shirley Johnson Others present were: Neal de Jesus, Interim City Manager R. Max Lohman, City Attorney Katerri Johnson, City Clerk Mayor Glickstein explained the suggested process whereby each candidate would make brief statements as to why they feel they should be chosen to be the City Manager of Delray Beach followed by questions and answers from members of the City Commission then City Commission discussion and selection of a new City Manager. After making a brief introductory statement, Mr. Collins responded to questions from the Mayor and City Commissioners. Further discussion ensued. Commissioner Katz made a motion to appoint Mark Lauzier as the City Manager of Delray Beach, subject to City Commission approval of a contract as drafted by City Attorney, Lohman and agreed to by Mr. Lauzier. It was seconded by Commissioner Petrolia. The vote was taken and the motion passed unanimously (5-0). Mayor Glickstein further commented that the City's management consultant would work with the City Attorney to draft a contract for Mr. Lauzier's service as City Manager. He noted that time was of the essence and this was a priority item for Mr. Lohman. Interim City Manager de Jesus thanked the Mayor and City for the opportunity to serve as Interim City Manager. He said that City staff had done an incredible job of getting things done over the past ten months.
