;the council met in adjourned regular session
with Idiayor Smith presiding. Councilmen Barwick,
Evans, Jelks, Bundy and 0'?;cal were present.
It was moved by P;lr. Barwick that specifications
be prepared and bids advertised ~'or the paving of
Swinton Avenue from South 4th.St, to McKinley Ave.,
the construction to be 8~-TM compacted opus or naranja
rock base with slag and oil surface. The specifications
were to include combination curb and gutter. The motion
was seconded by Lr. O~Neal and carried unanimously
on roll call.
St was moved by Mr. Jelks, seconded by Mr.Barwick
that Atlantic Avenue from East oth. Avenue to the
Canal be included in the above program. The motion was
carried on roll call.
It was moved seconded, and carried on roll
call that the City engineers be instructed to draw up
plans for storm sewers on North East 2nd. St. from
Swinton Avenue to the canals and that the city manager
be instructed to enter into a contract with Mark F. Reardon
Company for the installation of the same.
&Tr. Barwick, Chairman of the Committee on
Sanitation made a verbal report on the sewage disposal
system - the City Manager and Engineers were instructed
to prepare specifications for the sceptic tank to be
installed in the city park for taking care of the sewage
from the present system.
A request for the construction of poolroom and
restaurant in Block 44, to be built of galvanized iron
by Sam Brady was rejected.
The council adjourned.
