Councilmen Barvric'.c, Evans, fells, O'Neal and Bundy vrere present. w The minutes of the previous meet in-°s were read and approved. The hour of eight o'cloeli P.P;I. having arrived the I~Tayor declared bids closed on the oil engines and eleetric'~,1 equipment _`or the new power p1ax~_t. yr It was moved by P;:r. BarwlcY,, seconded by i;Ir. Jelks that the following be added to the first unit of the paving program -North. East lst Avenue from Atlantic Avenue to North East 1st Street - P?orth East lst Street from Swinton Avenue to North F:.ast lst Avenue -The motion was carried. It was moved and seconded that bids on oil engines and electrical equipment for the new power plant be opened. The motion having been carried on roll call the bids were then opened, in order, and read to the council. Jelks, seconded by Ir.Barwick that e nstruction work on the golf course be deferred for th~ present. The motion was carried. Tie problem of maintaining the golf course was referred to the Golf Committee -Chairman Sdr. Sundy. h.~r. Je1ks,Chairman of the Street Committee, reported on his inspection tour of Swinton Avenue, and recommended that the curb be not assessed to the property owners. l;Ir. Jelks stated however that the Fast Coast Construction Company had agreed to accept a 10°Jo reduction on the total price of the curb, It was moved by Pair. Evans,regularly seconded and carried on roll call that the East Coast Construction Co., be paid for the curb on Swinton Avenue less 10~ discount. Je1ks,Chairman of the Street Committee, who recommended that it be placed on its first reading. The ordinance having been read for the first time in full, it was regularly moved, and seconded tY~at it be passed on i,ts first reading. The ordinance having been read for the first time in full, a motion was made and seconded that same be passed on its first reading. On roll call the vote was unanimous. It was then regularly moved, and seconded t:at the rules be suspended and the ordinance be read by caption only. The motion eras passed unanimously and the ordinance was then read for the second time by caption only. The ordinance reciting that it was an emergency it was recommended that the ordinance be placed on its third reading and final passage. The ordinance was then read for the third time and in full. On its final passage those voting in the affirmative were Ls. Evans, Jelks, Barwie'_~, O'Neal, and Sundy. The motion was carried. The council instructed that an ordinance be raven requiring all city vouchers to be countersigned y the lgayor. Current bills having been referred to the Finance ;ommittee for•sudit were referred back to the council and ordered paid. The council adjourned to 7 P.?:4.
