08-13-26 RegularAugust 13th, 1926. COUNCIL CHAMBER The Council met in regular adjourned session, the Mayor presiding. Councilmen Barwick, Evans, Jelks, O'Neal and Bundy were present. {' It was moved by Mr. O'Neal, seconded by Mr. Barwick and carried on roll call that the City Manager purchase a oar of Kentucky Rock Asphalt for street repairing. Mayor Smith recommended that the City investigage disposing of the old rock now on city streets which are to be torn up and repaired. It was moved by Mr. Barwick, seconded by Mr. O'Neal and carried on roll call that the matter of reimbursing Mr. Moseley for a fine he paid for W. J. Simmons be tabled for legal advise. The Mayor referred to the Sanitary Committee the matter of a sunken manhole at the intersection of South - west Second Street and southwest First Avenue. It was moved by Mr. O'Neal, seconded by Mr. Jelks, and carried on roll call that the Elliott Advertising Company be instructed to move to the rear of the lot a sign board they are now erecting at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and the Dixie Highway. City Manager Long and Mr. Selks were appointed to see that this is done. After sore discussion by the Council as to whether or not it would be advisable to try and direct South bound traffic West on Atlantic Avenue to the old Dixie highway Mayor Smith appointed Mr. Barwick to bring the matter up with the Chamber of Commerce. It was moved by Mr. Jelks, regularly seconded and carried on roll call that the first two blocks North of Atlantic Avenue on Swinton Avenue would not be paved until petitioned by the property owners. It was moved by Mr. Jelks and seconded by Mr. Bundy and carried on roll call that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign an agreement with the Bank of Delray f A M1 August 13th, 1926 Cont. concerning the City money on deposit there, a copy of which is attached to these minutes.
