COUNCIL CHAId1BER
The Council met in adjourned regular session, the
Mayor presiding. Councilmen Barwick, Evans, Jelks and
Sundy were present. Councilman O'Neal was absent.
The minutes of the previous meetings were read and
approved with the following exception. The third paragraph
of the minutes of September 7th was declared inaccurate and
the following motion declared to be the correct one: That
Mr. J. B. Long, City Manager, be asked for his resignation
to take effect immediately and that the duties of his
office be divided btween the City Clerk and the City Engin-
eer. It was then moved, seconded and carried on roll call
that the minutes of September 7th be approved with this
correction.
Mr. Jelks, Chairman of the Special Committee,
appointed to make recommendations on employing a band for
the winter,moved that the City enter into a contract with
the band for concerts to cover a period of sixteen weeks,
or thirty -two concerts, according to the proposal submitted
by Mr. A. L. Miller at a previous meeting and to be placed
on file in the Clerks office. The motion was seconded and
carried on roll call.
Action oxi a contract for an electrical extension
on the polo grounds was deferred until after September 20th.
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR TIE ISSUANCE OF IMPROVE -
1WT BONDS FOR THE CITY OF DELRAY, FLORIDA, AGAINST LIENS
DUE SAID CITY ON ACCOUNT OF CERTAIN STREET PAVING IMPROVE' -
MENTS was taken up for its second reading. It was regularly
moved, seconded and carried unanimously on roll call that
the rules be suspended and that the ordinance*be read for
the second time by caption only. Having been read for the
second time by caption only the ordinance was placed on its
third reading and final passage. It was then read for the
third time and in full. On its final passage those voting
in the affirmative were Mr. Barwick, Mr. Evans, 11r. Jelks,
and Mr. Sundy. In the negative none.

The Mayor appointed I:ir. Jelks to act on the Finance
Committee in the place of h1r. O'Neal who was absent.
Current bills having been referred to the Finance Committee
were audited and referred back to the Council and ordered
paid as indicated by the committee.

TO THE LICENSING, REGULATING, AND REGISTERING OF REAL ESTATE

ON SEPTEP.IBER 28th, 1926 was laid *before the Council for its
first reading. Having been read for the first time in full
it was moved by 1.1r. Barwick and seconded by Kr. Evans that
the Ordinance be passed on its first reading. On roll call
the vote was unanimous.
It was moved by Mr. Barwick that all purchases for
he City be made by means of requisition from the City Engineer
o the City Clerk, who is to act as purchasinL agent. The
otion was seconded and carried on roll call.

September 14th, 1926.
It was moved that Mr. Hager be employed as Sanitary
and Plumbing Inspector and Health Officer at a salary of
$150.00 per month and that he be authorized to employ two
helpers at a cost not exceeding Four Dollars per day per
helper.
The Council adjourned to 8 P. Ir:. Saturday, September
18th, 1926, to prepare the ballot box for the special
election September 20th, and to take up anyother business
that may come before the Council.
