M. for the purpose of canvassing he result of the special election held on September 20th, 926, to declare the result thereof and to consider any ther matters that the Council may deem necessary. Councilmen Barwick, Evans, and O'Neal were present. Councilman Jelks was absent. It was moved by T:.r. Evans and seconded by 11r. Barwick that the ballot box, which had been turned over to the Council by the Chief of Police, be opened and the re- sults of the special election held on September 20th, 1926, be canvassed. On roll call the vote was unanimous. The Council then opened the ballot box and canvassed the re- sults by recounting the votes. The count whowed that the returns of the election inspector were correct. The following resolution was therefore laid before the Council by .rtr. Evans, who moved its adoption; WHEI&US: The returns of the Inspectors and Clerk of the Special Election held in the City of Delray, Florida, September 20th, 1926, showed that a total of 187 votes had been cast, and that votes cast on tt -e proposition submitted to the voters, to -twit: "To determine whether or not a majority of the qualified freehold voters of the City of Delray, Florida, will approve the sale to Florida Power and Light Company of all of the property, including real estate and buildings, for and or in connection with the City of Delray's light and power system and the business, under the terms and conditions set forth in the Company's Proposal, dated March 1st, 1926 and as supplemented on August 17th, 1926', For Approval of Sale 96 Against Approval of Sale 91 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COLMCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY, FLORIDA; That the proposition as to the approval of the sale, by the City of Delray, Florida to Florida Power and Light Company of all of the property, including real estate and buildings, for and in connection with the City's power and light system and business, under the terms and conditions set forth in the Company's Proposal, dated lk,�1,rch lst, 1926 and as sup - lemented on August 17th 1926, had been by a majority oY the qualified, freehold voters, of the City of F i r A 425 September 21st„ 1926. Cont. Delray, Florida, decided in the affirmative, by a vote of 96 FOR and 91 AGAI2.ST BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the return of the In- spectors and Clerk of said Election be accepted and that the Mayor and Clerk of the City of Delray, Florida, are hereby directed and instructed to make and execute such deeds, contract and Bill of Sale as will be necessary to carry out the proposition as decided by the voters of the City of Delray. The motion was seconded by tr. Barwick and carried unanimous- ly on roll call. It was regularly moved and seconded that the City authorize an expenditure not to exceed One Thousand Dollars to be paid to the Chamber of Commerce for the care of hurricane refugees now irl Delray.
