12-13-26 RegularCOUNCIL ROOM December 13th, 1926. JL51 The Council met in regular session with the Mayor presiding, all councilmen were present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. A communication from a group of colored citizens in regard to the construction of streets in the colored part of town was referred to the Street Committee for recommen- dation to the Council at the next regular meeting. A portion of the petition which requ#sted a curfew for the colored part of town was referred to the Committee on Police. It was moved by Mr. Jelks that the Clerk be instruct- ed to write a letter to the State Highway Commission to the effect that if the Federal Highway is constructed on East Sixth Avenue according to the established grade of the City, which is to be given to the contractor by City Engineer, the City will agree to condemn the right of way thru the Subdivision Vista Grande. The motion was seconded and carried unanimously on roll call. A petition from a group of merchants requesting changes in the license ordinance was referred to the City* Attorney, who was instructed to incorporate in a general way the wishes of the petitioners in an ordinance amending the license ordinance. It was moved by Mr. Jelks, seconded by Mr. Barwick, and carried on roll call that a license be given to Bert Melville Shows at the rate of $50.00 for one week, the show to be given under the auspices of the American Legion. It was understood by members of the Council that this reduction in the license rate was not to be considered as a precedent for future action. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY, RELATIVE TO THE ADJUST)YMNT OF 1926 TAXES OF SAID CITY, following up the expressed ideas of the members of the Council at a meeting held on November 29th, was read before the Council by the City Attorney. Its adoption was moved by Mr. Evans, regularly seconded and carried on roll call.
